I posted a quick start guide for posting images in BBCode in my trip report in response to another user's request about formatting, but wanted to post it here for the benefits of members who didn't read my report as well:
I. Images
....A. Posting Images
.....1) To post an image, use the [.img.][./img.] tags, removing the periods, and placing the URL of the image between the two tags.
....B. Where is the URL of the image?
.....1) The URL of the image can easily be accessed by Internet Explorer 5 or later users by right clicking the image, selecting "Image Properties, and copying the image location URL.
.....2) Firefox users can also easily obtain the URL by right clicking any image, and selecting "Copy Image Location".
....C. Example 1
.....1) At: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lpdal/...57650192948638
.....2) The IMG URL is: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8646/...46b73feb_c.jpg
.....3) We have our image tags: [.img.][./img.]
.....4) We post the URL between our image tags: [.img.]https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8646/16237817540_ea46b73feb_c.jpg[./img.]
.....5) Finally, we remove the periods within the IMG bracket tags, and our image is posted:
....C2. Example 2
.....1) At: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lpdal/...n/photostream/
.....2) The IMG URL is: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8719/...90aa1bfa_c.jpg
.....3) We have our image tags: [.img.][./img.]
.....4) We post the URL between our image tags: [.img.]https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8719/16861791206_0190aa1bfa_c.jpg[./img.]
.....5) Finally, we remove the periods within the IMG bracket tags, and our image is posted:
....D. Troubleshooting
.....1) Error: Image does not show up, or shows a small page with a red X instead of the image.
......a) Ensure you're not placing the URL the image is on rather than the image itself.
......b) Example: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lpdal/...57650187434750 Is NOT the IMG URL, that is the page it is located on.
......c) https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8606/...06986a95_c.jpg is the correct URL of the image, and our image is posted:
.....2) Text wraps with the image when attempting to post it.
......a) When you post an image and desire to have text under it, ensure you hit the "enter" or return key after the [./img.] tags, or your text will be on the bottom of the image as shown:
I really like how this car handles, and it stops on a dime.
......b) When you hit the "enter" or "return" key, the text appears under the image and does not wrap:
Two United 737s with all-new Split Scimitar Winglets, with the Houston - George Bush Intercontinental Airport Marriott in the background.
.....3) Even if I hit the enter or return key, the text still wraps.
......a) This occurs sometimes:
The upper-deck BE cabin of N661US is very spacious, with a double-wide aisle. You can see my suite, 79K, at the right.
......b) You can fix this by inserting a small character between the image and text, such as a dash or period:
.
-
United GlobalFirst Suite 2K would be my suite for this flight.
All my example pictures were from some of my various ongoing travels. If you're wondering what I look like, that is me in the third picture.
I hope this short outline was helpful to all the members who have read it.
Happy trip reporting!
