Trip Amsterdam-Budapest
Hi all,
This is my first report
Today (27/11) I was planned to go to Budapest Ferihegy, Hungary (LHBP) for a trip.
Schedule was as followed:
- MAH661 AMS-BUD 10:10, B73NG (-700 series), class C
- KLM1378 BUD-AMS 16:05 B734 Classic in C class as well.
I arrived at Schiphol at 09:00 and went to the desk to get my ticket. Ticket wasn't there, it still had to be printed so we had a short 10 minutes wait.
Finally got the documents and up to the check-in desks. I made a small mistake in time-management and it appears that it will be a very tight schedule. It was also quite busy at the passportcheck.
I have a quick look at all those rows and I join the row which probably contains the most Dutch people. Yups, good choice....I passed security check in 10 minutes and had a short talk with some guys (my old job).
Hmmm 15 minutes left till boarding. I pay a short visit to the lounge to get some drinks, a fresh Saturday edition of the newspaper and a quick smoke (kuch kuch).
At 09:50 I walk to D28 (Annoying walk to the end of the D-pier
) to be the last passenger who is boarding. I had a nice seat at 2A and there we're 3 other fellow travellers in C, so everyone has a own row.
Pushback at 10:20 and departed 5 minutes later via holding E5, runway 18L for an ARNEM departure, to the east. Till now everything is all fine, those 15 minutes "delay" are already calculated in traveltime.
At ARNEM we pick up airway UL620 to fix BIRKA and continue the flight via UZ21 OMELO UL620 KOPIT UM748 BERVA UP974 ALAMU UY33 TAVSO.
Cruizing at FL390 (west=even FL, east=un-even FL) with a groundspeed of 430kts and an enroute time of 1:40.
The inflight service was Malev-worthy with a typical meal with meat, salmon and bread. Crew passed by several times for drinks, but I'm an easy passenger, so it was not a busy leg for the crew in the front.
Present time is 11:35, and I feel my organs are going forward
This means we are reducing speed and the nose is dropping a few degrees. When established on the vertical descend path a wellknown vibration came up, spoilertime!
After spoiler-extension the nose was pulled a bit up to improve the speedreduction and after half a minute the nose drops further down.
Winds are calm at Budapest en de landing was performed very well, no nasty rebounce which is typical to the A32X series.
For those who are flying with 737's and A32X's often, try to compare the feeling in your belly after touchdown!
*few hours break*
Current time is 15:10LT, boarding in 20 minutes.
Time: 17:06LT, we are hanging now for 55 minutes with an enroute time of 2hours.
I already received the flightplan for this flight from the Swedish (but Dutch speaking) captain.
Departure was via runway 31L, following the ERGOM3G "Standard Instrument Departure".
From ERGOM we enter airway UM138 to continue the route via OKI UM748 BERVA UT44 MAVOR UL602 HMM T281 NORKU.
Cruizing altitude is FL360, with enroute alternates to Brussels, Maastricht and Dusseldorf. Destination alternate is Rotterdam Airport.
The departure route showed an excellent scenery of Budapest. Dusk was coming in, little bit low fog and the sky had a strong pink and orange color. The captain was so nice to report our view on the left side, which showed Budapest city and the river Donau.
Just finished the meal which was very good this time! Chicken teriyaki with pasta and some kind of smoked fish. This meal is in my personal top 5, that's for sure (Yeah I know, it still is airplane-food")
Enrouting for 1:20 now, inbound KEMAD intersection and following the flightplan we will reach our Top of Descend in 10 minutes, just 1 minute after passing HMM radio beacon.
Ofcourse this means nothing, just an indication.....ATC will instruct to descend when convenience.
The approach was a short one, manually flown. Nice to see the runway when turning to intercept the runway track.
Landing was safely on runway 18C, vacated W6 and via Sierra taxiway to position D28.
@member Papa_Hotel: Hope you arrived well in BUD, take care and have a good flight back.
That's it folks.
