Arrived CNS at 1pm -- drove immediately to Palm Cove in Ford Falcon. Great pool view room. Had dinner at Greek restaurant -- Mixed Grill.

Buffet bfast at the hotel. Took Quicksilver Catamaran to the Reef. Snorkelling & BBQ lunch. Took bus from Port Douglas back to Palm Cove -- 1 hour drive. Saw Shereton Mirage resort -- looked awesome. Drove to CNS for dinner at the Gallery restaurant. Roast duck. Gambled at the casino in CNS.

Skipped bfast. Took day tour of Kuranda, including rainforest gondola ride & train ride down to CNS. Aborigine dancing, spear throwing, boomerang, etc. Lunch buffet at the Rainforestation. Bus ride back to Palm Cove. Dinner at beachfront restaurant -- awesome curry seafood fettucinni.

Bfast at grocery store alone. Croc farms not open. Drove south -- stopped at Kmart for video tape. Stopped at Mission beach for lunch. Great looking beach. Drove rest of way to Townsville. Viewed the Strand -- cool inner-city beaches. Stayed at the Jupiter's Casino resort. Gambled -- lost $140 AUD.

Drove South towards Airlie Beach. Stopped at animal preserve. Stopped at Bowen -- sleepy seaside resort town. Arrived at Airlie Beach. Very awesome town with lots of shops, restaurants, etc. Got a great high oceanfront room. Dinner at a sports pub. Chatted with Germans. Seafood platter. Got very drunk and fell asleep early.

Slept off hangover. Bfast at McD's. Watched TV and took a long walk. Fish 7 Chip dinner. Washed clothes. . . .

I was in Australia for several months last year and wish that I had traveled to Cairns. Hopefully I will be able to get back there someday. I hear that Cairns is absolutely beautiful.

My Quicksilver cat trip to the Reef -- and my inspection of the reef itself -- was a lifetime highlight.
