Short, but sweet.
I mean, if anyone could offer gripping prose about a trip that never happened, it's you, Japes. I felt your frustration as the delay unfolded at Newcastle.
Here's wishing you better luck next week!

I've had a lot of distractions - maybe late onset ADD...
I'm 15000 words in, and I've made it to Gunnison, Colorado. I seem to do my best writing on planes, so Monday I'm flying down to Denver. I even got upgraded on the second leg, still holding out for the first. 45" pitch in Alaska's First Class, along with complimentary Buffalo Trace and wheelchair assistance off the plane brings out the Hemingway in me. (Minus the temper and the shotgun!)
ideally, I'll break through my Colorado roadtrip (I'm incorporating lots of memories... I grew up in Colorado) and get back to Albuquerque where I flew up to Seattle, caught the train to Milwaukee (Why do people always "catch" trains? Like they ran after it and caught it... that's me, alright), flew back to Las Vegas and then road tripped around the desert southwest. Beautiful country, and again, lots of memories. Back in the seventies, I used to hitchhike between Colorado and California often. Great times. Great memories!
Here's a preview... I'll try to get it done by the end of the month! I'm hoping for surgery in October.
