Service began soon after seatbelt signs were off. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fda512dd6b.jpg Service in C for this short flight. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d1da1fc87c.jpg A small dessert was served before landing. Touchdown was 20 min ahaed of schedule on the furtherst away runway. Taxied for 15 min to our remote stand V111. From there was another 10 min bus drive to the Terminal And here I'm back in the Senator Lounge. 6 hours to kill until my next flight home. |

Thanks for the interesting insight to “my” city from a tourist’s point of view. It’s always nice to see things from a different perspective and one of the reasons I love having people to visit. You see sides of the city you’d never bother going to normally.

The old border was an absolutely surreal crossing back in early 1990. I crossed just east of Hamburg, the tracks for the motorised anti-vehicle barrier and the dog runs were still present. You couldn’t yet stop because clearance of the border zone had not even really begun, but the checkpoint buildings already looked like something from a post-apocalyptic film.

BER really is a crap airport! Slow security even in the priority line and really long walks. The fact that LH have had to set up the shuttle service says it all. A complete s***show of an airport. Bring back Tegel! ;)

During the bus ride to the Terminal I was talking to another passenger. He was complaining about the service of Lufthansa and because we arrived on a remote stand.
He was on the way to HKG on two different tickets. So they didn't check his bag through. I don't know the other airline. And he was complaining this as well because the other way it worked. The bus ride took to long for him. |
Food selection today. First breakfast which changed later to lunch.

My plan has changed. My direct flight to ZRH got cancelled. I had three options. Via Hamburg, via Vienna or stay overnight. I asked also for a train but no capacity. I would have to book it by myself and then reclaim it. I try now the route through Vienna. I should be 4 hours later in ZRH. Any compensation could be difficult because of weather. Maybe I tty it anyway even when LHG is picky.
One flight is with Austrian and the other with Swiss. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a96f2b29a1.jpg |
"weather" might sometimes be just an excuse. I assume you read german? Link to Mr Böse

Finally boarding has started with an hour delay. They hold back first the passenger because of the weather. Aricraft is on a remote stand. Thrn they hadn't any ground staff to unload the unliad tve cargo. That took a while.
And the remote stand is at the suburbs of FRA. Far far away. Now we wait for the next bus load. OE-LZD is my chariot to Vienna and a complete new airline for me. Never flown Austrian. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3561177b6e.jpg For this flight I have only a middle seat but in row 5. Not bad at all. |
We were already boarded by an hour late and we will leave FRA with a two hour delay. Airspace restriction hold us back. Also Cargo is still loading but passengers are all on board.

Doors closed, saftey demonstraion done. We are still waiting for our go. Hopefully comes soon
Lufthansa sent me a 15€ voucher to be used in Vienna. I'm not sure if I have enough time. I hope could go to the lounge but that I have skip as well. |
Just catching up on this. Thanks for the report! Berlin is a city I really like, I go there often on business and have been several times for tourism as well. It is really a shame how badly they fumbled the airport, though. I was there two weeks ago and it was over 30 minutes in the priority security. Only rivaled by FRA T2 where my record stands at 45 minutes. I guess the Tempelhof lounge isn't too bad, nice apron view.
Hopefully you make it home tonight, VIE is pretty efficient for transit. |
6pm we finally pushed back 5 min later we were on the runway and off. We were flying at max speed but didn't help mutch. Pilot made the announcement that we will be on de ground by 7pm. Another 15 min it took until we finally touched down. 5 min later at the gate. From one chaos into the next one.
Service on board was just a cup of water. Nothing to talk about. There was a large group of singers on the flight and they sung a song as we were on the remote stand. Now, I'm in Vienna and this flight get delayed as well. Maybe I made it to Zurich but not home. See what customer service is telling me. |
Ouch! That sounds rough! Good luck getting home. :)
|
I might catch one of the last trains but would need a taxi home. It looks like I have to pay for the Hotel because it is beyond my destination. Well we will see how this goes.
For the moment I really think about to take a Hotel in Zurich and travel home tomorrow morning. It is just more relaxt. |
