Talk about hitting a jackpot upgrade, rack rate over £2,000 a night when checking for tomorrow. |
The bar is just now closing so a coffee and a large Hennessy XO as a nightcap, plus some OJ and lemonade because I’m very thirsty.

You are lucky or poor guy. BA is doing things that end up flying for free. I never had something like that. 4 years ago I had a 3 hours delay on the flight LAX-LHR which resulted in a missed connection to ZRH and could stay in the Shareton on Bath Road and headed home the next day. Result was a missed half day at work.

The only downside is that my laptop is at home but even then I can do the vast majority of what I need to do from my iPad, plus my calendar is booked out to travel today as the plan was for 5-6 hours of travelling. |

And I think this is the appropriate time to bring this trip report to and end. It is about an hour and a half to get to tonight’s hotel so I shall languish here as long as possible, I’d assume they have a business lounge somewhere so maybe I’ll hang around until the afternoon before heading off to my next lodging. Thanks for following along, it may have been a pedestrian trip but it ended with a flourish :) |
Great TR for a brief visit to Madeira Japes UK. We are booked in to stay at the hotel that was in front of yours (the round building you could see from your rooftop bar - Pestana Vila Lido) for Easter. Will be giving Mad Market a go. If you fancy another visit slumming it travel wise Jet2 fly there direct from NCL.

I’m feeling pretty lucky :D. Sometimes you make your own luck though, the rest of the flight will have taken whatever random hotel BA offered.

Thanks bigbadjoe
I flew Jet2 recently and these were my closing words “ That’s probably my last trip on Jet2 unless needs must, I got lucky on the way back, but even with nobody beside me, those seats are pretty gruesome.” There’s rather a lot of me for those little camp chairs :D |
Thanks for another nice TR.
While you were enjoying breakfast I passed you on the RailAir coach from Reading. Then unexpectedly passed you again half an hour later as the coach driver decided to not go through the tunnels to T2, after having spent a good 30 minutes in a traffic jam along the perimeter road due to a temporary obstruction that had just been cleared... And now my flight to VIE is an hour late so my connection on one of very few uncancelled flights into Germany today will likely be missed. Ah, the joys of never really being sure which hotel you end up in at the end of the day - although mine is unlikely to end with an Imperial Suite... |

One last picture to provide an idea of the scale of that room, from this door to the end of the corridor is all the one suite, with four different entrance doors!

Good morning from the Sofitel T5 :). The view from the suite is one for the crappy view from my hotel room thread, but who wants to look outside!

One more update, Customer services just called based on my whinge about FNC boarding and no wifi, 20,000 avios. More than generous, the whole trip was 28,000 avios + £70
