Indeed. LHR-VIE-BUD-STR is not my longest involuntary reroute - that honour falls to LHR-LIS-GVA - but it might be the most surprising.

Just in, another 10K avios for the broken wifi on the abortive LHR-NCL-LHR trip.

Havent quite gotten to the point of BA paying me to fly but think this is the closest ;)

Trip was 28,000 Avios plus £70, Service corrections 30,000 Avios!

You just can’t get rid of those pesky Avios can you😉

Certainly seems that way! November was looking a bit sparse so I can fill that gap with a couple of
redemptions now :)

November remains sparse, but a weekend to Bodrum and three separate weekends to London booked for random dates and that’s cleared out the pot for now

22:02 and the captain is back, we are off to Heathrow. Now if only the ruddy wifi was working! ETA is expected to be 23:00.

Crazily this all works out in my favour as I was supposed to be on the 11:41 from Newcastle to London Kings Cross tomorrow morning! instead I get a lazy night in London. Also, I was supposed to be in Birmingham on business on Wednesday but that meeting has been moved, so I can scoot back to Newcastle on the train Tuesday evening.

The ten minute to landing came at 22:30 and we were back where we started.

Love an unexpected twist to a trip, especially when a corporate entity is footing the bill! Makes for a great TR, too!

Would you consider the LHR to LGW transfer for future endeavours?

(Related, I was just offered compo for the involuntary rerouting on QR from Tokyo last week. You want to pay me to fly in Qsuites? Fine with me!)

If there is any other LGW in my future I think I’d choose the rail route

Do you ask the IFL to lodge a complaint on your behalf or log it yourself via the website?

I logged a complaint on the website about no special meal being loaded earlier in the year,, never got a response

I always raise complaints myself on the website even if the crew say they have logged it for me.

More importantly, is it any good? And will you survive it?

After having tried that moutai in the maple leaf lounge a while back I think the answer to both those questions is a resounding NO!

Hello @JapesUK. Loved reading about all your adventures again! Just wondering if you were in the Union bar at the Gantry Hotel at Stratford with a group of colleagues on Monday late afternoon? Husband and I were staying there for the Newcastle v West Ham match and having a drink in the bar.
