Chilli Garlic Chicken, Pilau Rice, Chapati…. A wise choice, possibly not, but absolutely delicious!!

Conversation (and beer) is flowing and it will soon be time to head to the pub and hopefully meet up with the other half of the attendees.

And a highly cheesy and thoroughly entertaining hour and three quarters. The tour was the haunted graveyard tour by City of the dead, and I recommend it for a bit of fun.

It was a ten minute walk back to the hotel through hordes of students that had exceeded their tolerance for alcohol hours ago so it was a case of dodging both the staggering drunks and also the pools of vomit their predecessors had left in their paths!
Time now to close off this thoroughly enjoyable day with a coffee before a good nights sleep.

I would buy it only because of the colour. And add it to my "do not drink" collection 😁

Good morning from a bright and sunny Edinburgh’
Only kidding! Another gray and miserable start to the day here in the Athens of the North.
Breakfast is very similar to yesterday however the fizz has been replaced with a Bloody Mary station. Can you spot the ingredient for the local derivative?

I was going to settle for a bit of toast this morning but the toaster is set to Luke warm, so using the lightly warmed bread I settled on a good old sausage sarnie

it is now 09:20 and I’m still on my first coffee, so some lingering is going to be required. Once sufficiently caffeinated, it’ll be time to pack up my room, lodge my bags for safekeeping, and head over to the meeting point about ten minutes away to commence todays fun.

Bags dropped at reception and a ten minute walk has brought me to our meeting point for this morning, Ten Hill Place Hotel, the same place we met for drinks last night.

Happily they’re open for walk ins

Whilst I sit here enjoying this coffee I’ve a few minutes to reflect on my stay at the Hilton. My first instinct was to be dramatic and say that it was abysmal, but it wasn’t really, I’ve stayed in far worse. It was, however, very disappointing for a Hilton.
The staff were sub-par, inattentive on reception, housekeeping banging on the door despite the do not disturb sign, shouting in the public spaces. The building was ratty and tatty, the executive lounge simply was not either executive nor lounge. The food quality was really bad, this mornings sausages were cheap and tasteless again.
I’d not recommend this one until all of the renovations are completed, and even then I’d be dubious.

I am envious of you all getting together up there, but I have to say that I am not envious of the Johnny Walker experience.
It appears to be a triumph of failed millenial style over substance.
Normally my flat cap and dour expression would stop anyone attempting to put 'mood lights' in a bar, but the chirpy hosts there would be having none of it I think.
It looks like it is aimed at an age range of 18 to 18.5, or possibly just aiming to convince rich Japanese and Chinese punters that what they are drinking is desirable in some way.
