Nice report!

Did you get any more pics of the LH amenity kit? Looks different than what I got on the same flight in August.
I also flew to NYC from IAD afterwards, but I was in economy due to lack of award availability and thunderstorms resulted in a two hour tarmac delay. I can tell you they definitely don't try to do any service in the rear of the plane on that flight 😄

Thanks for the kind words, folks. I really enjoyed writing it and getting to 'relive' the trip a few days after it.

Perhaps not obvious but you can add a transit pass for the Metro from within the Apple wallet app on iPhone (and I believe via Google Wallet on Android). Works great and non rush hour fares are a flat $2 each way so its easy to figure out how much valid to add to the pass.
I'll keep that in mind for next time, thanks! It definitely wasn't obvious from the ticket machines but I do remember some ads on the train explaining you could do it.

We tried to ask a staffer who essentially summed up what the ticket machines said and left us even more confused.

Also thanks for the metro tip in washington, Im there in a couple of weeks time and will be following in your footsteps.

Very jealous of the duck
We would have loved to do cocktails in Connie, but it didn't open until 4pm and with a 6pm flight that would have been pushing it a wee bit. I'm hopefully coming back to NYC next year with my wife in First on a 241 so we'll definitely do cocktails one evening.

These were the amenity kits. One is male and the other female but I can't remember which. Not the flashiest of bags, but I think they'd actually work for a clear liquids bag when going through security so quite useful.

Great tr - I’m intrigued by the white ball served with the pigeon. Wasn’t sure if it’s a ball of butter / cream or something different.

love that you had coronation chicken salad because yesterday my wife had a coronation salad for her luncheon! Hers had curried chicken.

I'm actually not sure what it was. I think it was some sort of very thick cream with truffle and pear. This was what the menu said.

I had never actually had coronation chicken before that flight.. discovered that I love it now so I've had it twice since. 😂
