Mr Enthused
Thanks for your comment.
My RAF VC-10 flights were one of the highlights of my time in the Royal Navy along with SQ 747 Raffles class and a couple of other aircraft to a destination I not allowed to mention..
I deployed as the communications operator with a Royal Navy Diving Team to Pulau Tioman in the South China seas as a part of a 'Five Eyes Exercise'
We spent three days - THREE DAYS - getting to Singers via Abu Dhabi, Colombo and Butterworth (Malaysia).
On the return we had a delay as one of the engineers fell of the ladder, hospitalised, flew to Penang, mid air technical situation which involved a stop in Bahrain before onwards to RAF Akrotiri and back to RAF Fairford due to the runways at BZZ under maintenance
Loved it- not sure that the Air Stewards comments that "if we fly into mountain the mountain would come off worst" settled any nervous flyers but I remember it! And that's twenty odd years later!
