St. Patrick’s Cathedral
Next we went to St Patrick's Cathedral, which is the larger of the two Anglican cathedrals in Dublin. The term cathedral is somewhat misleading, however, because it is not the seat of the Bishop. This is the previously visited Christ Church Cathedral.
Here, too, the entrance fee of 9 € is not exactly low, and there was no mention of the combined ticket with the March Library. Inside, the cathedral is, in my view, somewhat more impressive than Christ Church Cathedral.
We all know that one person during a tour who is always standing in the way because they can't get close enough to everything and feel like it takes as long to take each photo as it does to build a church. Here is my joy of the day:

March´s Library
Next to the cathedral is March's Library. Here, too, you could have saved a little with a combined ticket, but what the heck.
The library was fully stocked and therefore more interesting to me than the one at Trinity College. There were also a few Lego figures in between.
A visit is absolutely recommended. A little entertainment was then also provided, a German couple read the travel guide aloud and discussed it, including current events. I would have been quite embarrassed, but people are different.....

Dublin Castle

Visiting Dublin Castle is a little more complicated. While you can visit most of the rooms on your own, the excavations in the cellar and the chapel are only accessible with a guided tour. However, you cannot book a guided tour online, but only on site. In the morning, only one guided tour was available in a few hours, so we took it.
After an introduction in the courtyard, we went to the excavations.
Then we went to the chapel.
The tour of the rooms was first with the guide, then I took another individual tour.

Then we walked around the city for a while. First to the Molly Malone statue.
Then again to Bewley's Grafton Street. this time there was the Pastry Tower.
Then I noticed this supermarket.
Somehow it looked interesting, but we didn't try it out.

Bastible
In the evening we went to the Bastible. The restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star. The atmosphere is casual and very relaxed, but it is perhaps not the right restaurant for a candlelight dinner. We got a table in a niche. It was very private, but also very narrow and rather uncomfortable.
There is only a fixed menu to eat, special requests can be made in advance. At 85 € per person, the price is very reasonable.
The food was good, but the chef couldn't have known that I hate pickles. GF loved the sauce.
Overall, good food and a creative concept. I liked it.

Hugh Lane Gallery
The next morning we went to the Hugh Lane Gallery.
It is a historic building that houses the most important collection of Impressionist art in Dublin. There are also some modern works.
Definitely worth a visit, admission is thankfully free.

St Mary's Pro-Cathedral
St Mary's Pro-Cathedral is the Roman Catholic Episcopal See of Dublin. It is a pro-cathedral because the Catholic Church claims the now Anglican Christ Church as its cathedral. The present building dates from the beginning of the 19th century.

O'Connell Street
Here are a few impressions from O'Connell Street. It used to be the boulevard of Dublin with many interesting buildings. Today, some of them are empty, like the former posh department stores' Clery&Co. A taxi driver told us that O'Connell Street cannot be recommended at the moment, it is very run down. Unfortunately, we have to confirm that on the whole.
Run-down is probably a bit harsh here, but it is certainly no longer a boulevard of splendour.

National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History
The Museum of Decorative Arts and History is a bit out of town, but easy to reach by taxi. It is housed in an old barracks and has some military exhibitions next to it. Otherwise, there is a wide-ranging exhibition with many different objects. The exhibition on Eileen Gray deserves special mention.
A nice museum, although not very conveniently located.

I like the subject matter, must remember to put it on my list.
I'm a bit confused about the location though. Seems to be the one in Collins Barracks? That's just off Smithfield, scarcely a mile from the castle and right by a tram stop.

Yes, it's in the former Collins Barracks. I found it quite a long way, at least by foot. From the Merrion it's a 45 minutes walk, from the castle still nearly 30 minutes. I guess there is a Tram-station, but I didn't consider it. Btw it was very easy to get a Taxi.
