LOL so the Etihad sponsored team (who play at the Etihad stadium) beat the Emirates sponsored team (who play at the Emirates stadium), and you got to watch it live while flying Emirates.

Amazing report as always! The food looks incredible (both at the restaurants and with Emirates), and unbelievable that you are able to pack in so much (with jet lag) in such a short window of time. I bet you are exhausted when you finally reach your home in CO!
All best wishes - and look forward to the next trip.

Epic! And so inspiring....
Didn't fly much lately because of our first (21 months old) child (and the second to arrive in two weeks), but when I hit the air again later this year it will be exactly like you did it in this wonderful report.

Thank you
Thank you for the time and effort involved in sharing your experiences with much appreciated directness
Sorry to hear of the Mexico experience - great recovery!
The caviar on champagne sorbet sounds inspired - have you tried Epicure which has undergone a bit of a transformation in that the chef has re-invented himself?
Would you say that AF La Premiere, overall, delivers the best food experience ex-home base? That has been my experience so far.
And the Wine List on Emirates, with their cellaring programme, decanting, the occasional P2 and Yquem on board is surreal and unrivalled compared to most carriers.
How do they do it (their wines and spirits are catastrophically expensive compared to any other airline in F, SQ and QR included)?
It is also great to see two pals doing what they re passionate about
Bravo
Ian

What IS that AA "meal"? I really cannot tell except that it looks absolutely inedible!
Looks like you had a great trip nonetheless!

A joyous read, as always! Two of the greatest joys of life are a stay at a great hotel & dinner (I'm not a lunch person) at a truly fabulous restaurant. You & offerendum are truly the masters of restaurant porn.
We are traveling to the Maldives & Cape Town this winter. Ellerman House was unsurprisingly unavailable so we're booked into the Silo. I usually drool in anticipation at the prospect of staying in a new hotel, but I just can't get excited about the Silo. Perhaps it's because I am so disappointed about not staying at Ellerman House, which is a bucket list hotel for me. Or perhaps it's because the Silo appears to be more of an "influencer" hangout than a proper luxury hotel.
May I ask what you thought of the service at the Silo?

What a fantastic trip report! Thank you for the time and the effort. It’s like you take us on a journey with you. Thank you!
Emirates first class service seems very nice but I just can’t stand the sight of the cabin… It is all golden and what not.
