We’ve reviewed your application and we’re pleased to confirm that you’re entitled to compensation under EU Regulation 261. This has been calculated as €600 per customer. ... We’ll transfer the total amount into your bank account within 14 business days.
Which is nice. However, the sad aspect is that there were a couple of hundred passengers down the back (mainly Friends and Family, I could guess) who would have known NOTHING about EC261/2004, as there was no evident effort on the part of BA to inform them of their rights. €600 each could be a life-changing benefit for some ... for us it's just paying for a new Dishwasher with several €nnn left over.

Edit: total bill to BA would have been c. €165,000 ... not even the combined
salary of the crew.

Compensation for the delay credited to my bank today ... 1,048.95 (€1200). New dishwasher ordered yesterday, which will use half of that!

Not a bad return for sitting in the LGW First Lounge for 5 hours, drinking champagne and eating smoked salmon sandwiches.
