Part 15 – Yes Really, AA is Going for Great, American Airlines Boeing 737-800 First DFW-GUA

Feb 28, 2020 – Friday
AA 1013 DFW – GUA 11:15am – 2:36pm (738/J)

After arriving in DFW, I quickly made my way to Terminal D by way of the DFW Skylink.
I had hoped to get to the DFW Flagship before it was filled with other guests, making photos an easier task. 😁

Near 730am, I went to the C gates to meet with the client and both of us made our way back to the Flagship Lounge.

At 10am, I bid farewell to my client as he had to get back to the office.
Meanwhile, I stayed at the Flagship until 1015am, before heading down to Gate D17 for the GUA flight.

American Airlines Boeing 737-800 Enhanced Business Class Quick Review
Check-In – Non-Applicable

Security – Non-Applicable
DFW Skylink is a wonderful way of transiting airside, with great views to top. ☺️😄

Lounge (AA Flagship) – It's decorated Very Nicely, granted the ways AA has constructed its new lounge feels a bit too Cookie-Cutter network wide for my taste. 😑
Unlike the LAX and JFK Flagship lounge, the DFW lounge could use more Texans Art or Culture.

With all that said, the lounge's best selling point is its vast view of the entire western side of DFW complex. 🤩🤩

Boarding – One of the more pleasant AA boarding process in recent times, the larger Foot Space of DFW D shines here. 🙂
45 Minute boarding for a 738 is an overkill yes, but at least the gate area isn't a scrum. 🤷‍♂️
Plus if the First Cabin was sold 9/16 until 2 hrs prior, you can kinda see this route profile isn't your business commuter crowd.

Cabin Ambiance – You won't hear complaints from me on the Boeing Sky Interior.
Maybe you can put Lipstick on a Pig afterall! 🤣

Seat – Likewise to the Airbus 321S Enhanced First Seat, it's a fine seat for 2 – 3.5 Hr Non-Redeye flights. 😀
Still, the same issue that haunts the 321 Enhanced also haunts the 738, are you sure you'll get this seat? 🤨

Food – AA Non-Long Haul or Premium Transcon catering?
You won't starve, but appetizing?
Hmm, nope 😐

Entertainment – Again, if this was the flight experience network wide, Great
Except we get the sad 'improvement' like Oasis. 😒

Crew – Average Crew, they didn't screwed up in any major way, but no PDB or anything else special to speak off. 😐

Overall Impression – Quite Happy if my short haul AA flying always falls on the 321 and 738 Enhanced Seat.
The "Going for Great" Guatemala City Aerial Tour is a nice treat to boot! 😍😍
Sadly AA doesn't have a thing called Short haul product consistency 😒

Enjoying the continuation of your report! What was the reason for the 'do over' at GUA? And I'm confused. You mention the Flagship Lounge being open at DFW. AA's website states that all of the Flagship Lounges are closed and will not reopen until June. (I was curious as I have a MIA-GRU flight in early May in F.)

Ya 🤦‍♂️, I should've been more detailed on the "Go-Around"
Previous Aircraft had not exited the runway was the Reason.

Also found out the 738 isn't the greatest performer is High Altitude airport either, weather that day wasn't Hot by any stretch.

As for the Flagship Lounge, remember this flight took place on Feb 28, 2020 😝😝
