I particularly love Mauritius. I find it an interesting place for an island holiday. I haven't had any issues with theft there however.
Aside from potentially getting the licence plate of the bike, I think you'd be rest assured that there isn't much that you can do about it at the time. There is a mild risk when confronting someone in a foreign county; especially over something as simple as property. Fortunately, like you, I've only had 1 attempted mugging in Rio de Janeiro after some 67 countries visited. I find, the best practice, is to not take anything you're not prepared to lose. An irritating circumstance for sure.

I'm always sceptical with bags and when I use some I mostly secure it at my body. Some people think I'm too careful but such stories show I'm not that wrong. It's sad with such riff raff.

. Yes, if only we had read the Frommer's guide
!
. The drone has a range of 8 kilometers so is good for going to places which are not so accessible.

Excellent report once again - I esp love the drone pics that shows the entire hotel complexes. It gives you a good impression of the grounds and adjacent to it, that the hotel will never share online.

Economy class travel on Emirates notwithstanding, this was yet another totally first class journey to the far flung corners of the planet. Another DW Masterpiece! ^^

Our double sea view room including half-board was $386 for our night night stay.

Nice report as usual with outstanding photos! But is it really a sea view room?
