two weeks in DXB and a day in Abu Dhabi
as usual, the trip starts with eating miascor garbage.
it won't be long now, good riddance miascor.
a short hop on TG to BKK on their old 777. The Oman lounge is always something to look forward to though.
BKK DXB on the newer 359, this is much nicer.

stocking up on booze upon arrival. UAE prices for booze is killer as only hotels and fancy restaurants have licenses. DXB duty free had 289 aed for three bottles of piper! what a steal.
if you like falafel, try to find this 24hr place in sharjah.
4 aed for falafel wrap and all the greens and pickles you can eat
how to do a screenshot on a pc
watched the world cup. sheikh maktoum's thoroughbred finishes first.

meh, it's a big mall, semi crappy supermarket.
MOE with the fancy cinema and a carrefour, now this is more like it.
bring a bucket of 100SPF
old area with no skyscrapers in deira
halal market, it was very clean
free screen capture software
cooked the fish we got from the market
boozy brunch at marriott
DXB metro not as good as i thought, i am gonna need to get a rental. found a sentra for 80 aed/day.
marina mall, some drive to it, but if you have a boat you can sail to the mall.
drove to the farthest tip of the palm
ibn battuta (mall), i enjoyed learning about his travels.
image hosting over 5mb
took a longish drive to abu dhabi to see the louvre, gas is cheap, it's the salik tolls that are killer.
capture
first time to see a real magritte up close
i overheard an emirati guide say: "how can they say we have no history? they just don't know it". fair point. ghey are here now, they must have come from somewhere. ergo they have a history just as much as any older european city has.
russian beach.
sand is very fine, saw an FJ get stuck, driver probably had no idea it had 4L and diff lock capabilities.
jeshid, shark floss, emirati cuisine.
of course classical emirati cuisine wouldnt be fancy. before 1960 they werent rolling in money yet.
outrageous price for a yamazaki 18. i got one of these for like $250 just 3 years ago.

the krug was cheap though, about 160usd.
DXB and Abu Dhabi was fun. So many nationalities in one place. Drive safely, many don't.
