Great photos of Barcelona and the Mandarin Oriental. I spent a day in Barcelona once - just an appetizer that has me wanting a return trip someday soon. As for the Mandarin, pure fantasy for me, alas. Thanks for the great pics!

Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau
From Sagrada Familia it´s only a short walk to Hospiat Sant Pau which was built between 1902 and 1911 (first Phase) and between 1912 and 1930). It´s part of UNESCO world heritage. It was used until 2009 is now in a renovation-process back to the original state.
From the street it don´t look like the ususal hospital.
You enter the complex from the Basement and walk through one of the famous Underground tunnels which were a big improovement to it´s time.
Staircase
There are Independent pavilions on the campus which are connected by the tunnels. This was the first one which was built.
Some impressions. They tried to integrate plants to clean the air.
Another pavilion. First there weren´t separate rooms, later they moved in walls which were now removed.
Another tunnel
Unrenovated pavilion
The entrance hall
Hall over the entrance
Interesting place and well worth a visit

Aquarium
I heared many good Things about the Aquarium so I booked us tickets with a small dicount at the homepage (18 € instead of 20 €).
The entrance
You find the usual tanks with different fishes.
They also offer a big tank with moving floor and a tunnel.
You can book a diving tour inside the tank! This is what you get:
At the end some penguins:
The aquarium is quite nice but can´t be compared with world class aquariums.

BCN El Prat
We took a taxi to the airport which is only a short drive. At the Airport check-in was fast. As I feared chaotic secutity ckeck which is common in my experience in Spain I baught tickets for fast lane (4 €) in advance. When we arrived fast lane was closed, so 8 € for nothing. My complain remained unanswered.
We went to Canudas lounge at Terminal 2. The lounge is medium sized and a little bit wired constructed. No windows but a big round table with many seats, differnt Areas, many mirrors and a kids corner. The whole lounge has a tired feeling with many stains on the sofas.
The Food and drink selection was still OK, but some items were of very low quality.
This sealed sandwich for excample was totally wet and simply not eatable:
The restrooms looked good on the first view but were not in a good condition. Not very clean and very used. The pictures don´t show the real condition, sorry (or not?). The women´s room was much worse from what I was told:
Not a great lounge and no reason to be early at the airport. OK for the usuals waiting time.
