QR836 to BKK

Flight # QR836
Seat : 2A
Duration : 6h15
Aircraft : Airbus A380
Date : 06/10/2017
Departed: 2/8 in First. 100% in Business.

The full review for the flight can be found:

Since I did not review the lounge, you can find 2 reports with a lot of pics from the Lounge:

or

After my arrival from London I made my way to the lounge. QR stopped the escort for First Class Passengers like what you have with TG, while it was a nice touch to have it, I don’t miss it.

My BP:

I visited the Al Safwa Lounge more than 18 times in 2017, I’m now quite familiar with my “home” however with the Qatar Ban, it gives the lounge another perspective. Huge and empty. Plain and simple. You have more staff than pax. While I was there, we were 6. Yes 6 for that lounge. To run such a lounge, the cost is high. I don’t think QR can break-even with my ticket -). Not even close…

The famous waterfall:

I went to the buffet style restaurant:

I was not hungry at all, I just picked few salmon (yes, again the salmon) Sushis.

I then went to the business centre, you have both mac and windows computers.

Few mails later I headed to the boarding gate:

The beautiful A380 for the next 6h15:

Same seat, still comfy:

What’s the menu for today:

With no desire to eat, the FA made my bed:

I woke up 4 hours later, I decided to check the bar and then have my breakfast:

My office, not too bad:

I’m not hungry. Before I went to bed the flight attendant took my choices for breakfast:
Caviar to start…

Fish (red snapper) with noodles to follow, again, it was tasty but it’s not really First:

The regular fruit plate:

It’s not the traditional BF, but when you land at 1pm, it’s better to have a real lunch to adjust your body.

Landing:

Another good flight with QR. The crew was once again very good.

Great tr - glad you got caviar for breakfast on BKK flight. When you posted that you would sleep, I was worried that you wouldn't get to have the caviar!

Talking QR833 First Class to Doha

Flight # QR833
Seat : 2A
Duration : 6h50
Aircraft : Airbus A380
Date : 06/13/2017
Departed: 3/8 in First. 95% in Business.

The full review of the flight can be found:
http://www.youtripreport.com/Report/Flight/112Flight

Before I report my flight, just few pics from Avani Hotel. It’s a great one but way to far from downtown. I’m a big fan of infinity pool. The view is great too.

After 3 enjoyable nights in Bangkok, It was time to head back to the airport.

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, we used a Chinese service from taobao to book the cab to BKK, much cheaper than the regular cabs.

We arrived at the airport at 5 pm:

The check in was still closed but opened quickly:

On my way to immigration:

Since I didn’t have time for lunch I went to CX lounge for my pad thai:

I can eat pad thai every single day. I did it 1 year ago when I was in Phuket with my wife for a week.

My boarding pass:

At 6 pm, I decided to check out the Japan Airlines lounge since It has been revamped. The lounge is huge. which is a surprise because it was not really busy.
In the meantime, QR is building his own lounge. It's a good move given the 5 daily flights. If the new lounge is as good as the ones on LHR and CDG, no doubt it will be great.

The buffet... I have to say, I had big expectations. They were not met.

As a result, miso soup was the only thing I took from the menu. Aside from that, I will have dinner in the plane.

Who wants to drink?

Lounge entrance:

I decided to have a quick shower before boarding. Way too small or am I too fat ? The lounge provides a kit from Novotel.

After my shower, I made my way to the boarding gate.

I was escorted to my place by Wisaka. Same seat as before, I won't describe it.

Wisaka from Thailand will be in charge of the First Class today. She was just lovely.

The menu. Wisaka came for my order. At first I wanted to take the prawn as main but they loaded only 1 meal and the pax in 1A took it. I'm off with the beef...

If you are a regular flyer, the pic must be weird for you..
QR used to show The FC Barcelona soccer team. Since they broke up their relationship, QR removed the safety video. Fair.

Take-off:

The bar is about to open.

Just a killing. Salmon on the left and scallop on the right.

Once again I ordered the signature drink by QR, Lemon and mint.

The table is set, prawn amuse bouche:

Next the soup, delicious, they are usually great.

Caviar #1

Cheers!

The beef came. Yes I won't find my beef medium rare anytime soon on QR but the taste was there. Everything was good.

Fruit to top off a very good meal. My drinks were never left empty. Wisaka was proactive to never let that happen.

She made my bed while I was changing in the toilet.
In the middle on the night I went to the bar the stretch my legs and my bed was once again done.
Thanks Wisaka. You're a real treat.

Fast forward it was already time to pack up and prepare the cabin for landing.

Look how they made sure to avoid the UAE airspace.

Landing:

Bottom line:
I might sound biased about QR but I really like the airline. The crew is among the best in the world.
If only they could fix the main meal issue, it would be perfect.

QR11 First Class to London

Flight # QR11
Seat : 2A
Duration : 7h20
Aircraft : Airbus A380
Date : 06/14/2017
Departed: 3/8 in First. 95% in Business.

The full review for the flight can be found:
http://www.youtripreport.com/Report/Flight/113Flight

It's my final leg in QR First Class from Doha to London. All good things come to an end....

After my flight from Bangkok, I made my way to the lounge. It's such a beauty.

I decided to go to the restaurant and checked the menu and have my Moroccan lamb.
Last month when I ordered it, they ran out of lamb.

The table is already set and the waiter brought me the bread (warm) basket with butter and amuse bouche:

The lamb arrived, it was disappointing and that's an understatement. Dry and chewy, it was hard to swallow. I didn’t finish it.

I decided to go to the buffet style restaurant where I always order sushis.

I left the empty lounge after checking few mails.

Terrible timing for a flight…

The cabin is now well known to you, just few pics:

Pajama quickly came with the kit.
My sparkling water came with crackers and a cold towel.

The menu, my choices were asked before take off. I requested from the FA to have my bed done after take off.

Push back, let the engines roar.

My so called bed is done ? Euh ??!!! What is that ???!!!! She left with the seat as is.

DIY bed:

I slept for 4h40 minutes and it was time for my breakfast. The fruit came with my Greek yogurt with granola topping. There is something weird on the pic, I let you look for it.

I’m good, Not a bad view, don't you think ?:

Next the main.
It was brilliant, the omelette was phenomenal.
One thing is missing... Bacon but you are on QR. So it's better not to think about it. Same, there is something weird.... The fork and knife are not placed well.

SOOOO sad… it’s over..
[url=https://flic.kr/p/VRHhQV]

We circled for more than half hour:

Soon trying MH First:

One of the best quote:

Bottom Line:

While that trip won't be the best with Qatar in First, It was still a good flight. Despite the misunderstanding (?) with the FA regarding my bed an the cutlery not in the right place, she was charming and smiling even if i have preferred the other 3 I had on my previous flights.

The breakfast was simple but yet delicious.

As I write my last report of my QR First Class flight, I can't help myself to pull the trigger for another journey with QR First. It's more likely to happen in 2018.

Next Part : BA First Class Lounge + flight to Cairo.

Thanks for reading.

BA155 to Cairo in Club World

Flight # BA155
Seat : 3K
Duration : 4h20
Aircraft : Boeing B787
Date : 06/14/2017
Departed: 100% in Business.

The full review for the flight can be found:
http://www.youtripreport.com/Report/Flight/114Flight

I arrived with Qatar Airways from Terminal 4, I went to the transfer desk in T5 to collect my boarding pass. Once again my BA card was not added to the boarding pass. The agent told me the card is in the system. Same thing happened in Cairo and I'm still waiting my avios and TP....
She scanned my card and forced the system. Good job.

I was off to the priority line ?? Where I basically waited 35 minutes to clear security. With 7 hours to spare, it's fine.

The famous Horse:

The lounge is packed.... as always!

The breakfast is what you can expect in UK:

Close to noon, the lunch buffet arrived. BA it's time to change... I get the same pasta over and over again.

My boarding pass:

At 4pm I left the lounge to enjoy the view:

Boarding is about to start:

Here are few pics about the cabin:

The menu, I ordered the duck and fish.

Take off:

The founder, nice movie:

My main arrived, very tasty:

It's time for a quick nap:

Bottom line:

Lounge :
Maybe I spent too much time in the F lounge but it's so hard to find a seat. I had to wait 20 minutes to seat! The breakfast is well appointed. My complain would be the lunch. I'm tired to see the same thing over and over.
I'm on track to hit the Concorde card in few months, so in 2018 I will have the pleasure (?) to spend time there.

Flight:
Full flight in business, I'm not a big fan of the service, I'm not talking about the crew, I rarely complain on BA crew but the food offered is far from what you can expect in business. I'm not talking about being in the same league as QR, SQ but I'm sure they can do as good as TK.

With the current CEO I highly doubt it will happen in the near future. The guy seems to forget that he's no longer running a low cost carrier but a flagship airline spanning in 5 continents.

Next Part:
Egypt Air to ATH + MS lounge.

Great review! I'm slightly confused though - did you mean there is no alcohol served on board QR during ramadan?? that would be new...?! usually its just no visible alcohol bottles in cabins.

Well written though, nice balance of pics and text, great read. Thanks.

Thanks Theox for your kind comment.
No alcohol is served on board, it was not displayed in the lounge bar. I was given the booze list on all QR flights.

I'll be in doha saturday morning, if you're around, let me know.

Egypt Air coach to ATH

Flight # MS747
Seat : 27A
Duration : 2h
Aircraft : Boeing 737
Date : 06/15/2017
Departed: 100% in Y

The full review for the flight can be found:
http://www.youtripreport.com/Report/Flight/115Flight

As weird as it might sound, I had no intention to fly Egypt Air.
When I booked the ticket, I just saw an Aegan ticket, I just didn't pay attention to the operating airline.
Anyway it would be good to review MS since my last flight with them was in 2010.

I quickly arrived from the hotel and made my way to check-in. A bit busy, you have the same desks for many destinations. Yep, it's where I'm off to:

You have a dedicated line for Business and *G, it was empty when I arrived:

Next part the lounge.. I was there last month so I know not to expect anything..

Do you want to eat? No thanks:

I left grabbed water and sat to work

My boarding pass:

I left the lounge 10 minutes before boarding since you have extra security:

Priorities were respected, I walked through the J class. No I'm further down.

And found my seat in good shape.

You have your own IFE:

I picked the exit row, not bad:

We took off on time:

20 minutes later, the breakfast was served. Considering it's MS and on a 2 hours flight, I was surprised. I was even more surprised that it was in fact good. The pain au chocolat was better than the one I had in the First Class lounge in Doha !!!

Fast forward we were almost there:

Bottom line:
All thing considered, I was happy to have tried MS. The crew was fine. I won't rule them out if I need to fly somewhere and there the cheapest.

Thanks for reading.

Next part: Aegan + LH Lounge in ATH and A3 flight to MRS.
