My first IAD experience

I live in Richmond, and as a loyal US flyer, never had an occasion to fly through IAD. However, on a recent trip to PVD, the connections were better through IAD, so I thought I’d give it a try.

Now I know why everyone here berates the place. It’s like stepping back in time. Naturally, I assumed that since my inbound and outbound flights were both regional flights that I’d have an easy connection. But alas, no. “Air Wisconsin and Atlantic Coast don’t use the same terminal”, I was told. OK. I was hoping for better luck on the return, but that was not to be. A late departure out of PVD made my connection very tight. Again I was hoping that I would arrive and depart from a common regional area, but that was not to be. Even worse, we arrived at “T” and my connection was leaving from ‘C”. Got to love those people movers. Why doesn’t the driver get on first so he doesn’t have to wade through the masses to get in the driver’s seat?

Sprinting through the concourse I look at the departure board to realize that my connection to RIC has been canceled. Allegedly, there was a mechanical problem. We will be bused to RIC, during Friday evening rush hour. The only compensation offered is a meal voucher.

I decided to get a car and do it on my own. As I made my way through the terminal, I noticed a horrifically long line for security. I escaped the place and found solitude sitting in the parking lot known as I-95. But even that was better than IAD.

boy...you must have been "burning" up over all those problems. Sorry you had such a rough time. Hopefully you were able to put out a few "fires" along the way.
