Cape Town (and hi!)
Hi Everyone!!
I am new around here, so I would thought I would introduce myself!
I'm Al Berrisford, and I am from the midlands, Uk. Some of my other hobbies include swimming, reading, walking, and pc's & the internet. I run my own travel site at www.travel-forums.net - as you probably guess... they're travel forums ! They're going quite well at the moment, I enjoy travelling, so it's great to read the stories and look at the pics. Let me know what you think of them!
Seems like a great place here, so I would thought I would register and post.
A place we like to visit (me and my family), is Cape Town. Just recently there has been a lot of development, and it is really fantastic. There is a waterfront area with all kinds of shops and restaurants...but it doesn't look touristy like many places nowadays. There are some beautiful places, such as Table Mountain, which we went up a few times on the brand new rotair cable car...as you are going up it slowly rotates so you get a good view. At the top of the mountain, you can explore it all day, and we did. There are wooden/sand walkways over it, but it's pretty flat anyway. It so big that it's possible just to find a nice spot, sit and enjoy the view, or read. We stayed up there all day one day, as there is a very nice restaurant, and toilets etc. And of course...the beaches are fantastic!!!!
Has anyone here ever been? If so, what did you think?

Hi Al. Let me be the first to welcome you to Flyertalk.
The Trip Reports forum here is intended for folks to share anecdotal accounts of their previous journeys, so I don't think this forum is quite what you are looking for with your Cape Town discussions.
We do have a specific forum to discuss travel to Africa though and I will relocate the post there where I am sure it will get better responses.
Thanks
