During summer last year I had to make the choice between the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Burj, and I decided to go for the suite in the JBH. I found the service absolutely outstanding and can't even imagine how this can be topped. But I'm pretty sure I will find out soon, perhaps during - always dreadful cold and dark european - november.

A bit of a preview from my trip, but I think it's appropriate here. But here are a few photos of the lobby of the Burj. Needless to say, I didn't stay there, but thought the Burj lovers here might enjoy seeing them.

i think those rates are about 5 to 10% higher than the AMEX rates.

Ah I see, you stayed at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, in one of the suites on the upper floor.

Uli,
thank you for this mouth-watering report! Excellent! I have watched so many reports about this hotel on TV but your report gave me a much better insight! And made me rethink if I shall make use of this offer: http://www.ferien.li/burj-al-arab/ang1-1.htm#
BTW: Here's another Burj al Arab report from 2001 by an anonymus hotel professional (sorry, in German only):

1999 / 6 = 333 Euro .... but PER PERSON. so please do not do this. i am sure they will not allow this for "one person" only.
book via amex the leading hotels of the world rate of 1850 Dhrs. (about 440 euro PER SUITE). You can also hope to be upgraded to a panormaic suite then.
of course your offer does include the flight but flyertalkers always find cheaper flights ... or use miles ...
