Short Trip
Hunki needed 2 AS segments and I needed a couple hundred AS miles, so we decided to take a quick trip SEA/PDX.
9:30 a.m. Left home.
9:32 a.m. Enter *secret freeway.
9:47 a.m. Arrive at airport.
9:51 a.m. Park Car in 6 F 45.
9:55 a.m. Enter Security.
9:57 a.m. Punki clears security.
10:00 a.m. Hunki clears security.
Since our plane was scheduled to leave until 11:00 a.m., we decided to take a little side trip.
10:02 a.m. Arrive at train to North Terminal.
10:05 a.m. Board train.
10:07 a.m. Arrive at UA Red Carpet club.
We had a pleasant time hanging out in the club, gossiping with Geri about Chexfan, general Frequent Flyer insanity, normal travel, etc.
10:26 a.m. Leave club.
10:28 a.m. Board return train.
10:35 a.m. Arrive at Gate C-2M
10:45 a.m. Discover that plane will be late.
10:52 a.m. Preboard announcement.
10:54 a.m. Board plane.
11:07 a.m. Door closes.
11:16 a.m. Wheels up.
11:50 a.m. Touch down.
11:53 a.m. Deplane and run to catch 12:00 flight.
11:55 a.m. Discover that we have missed flight.
12:00 p.m. Get reassigned to 1:00 p.m. flight-standby on 12:30 p.m.
We decided to go for a little walk, visit the restrooms and check out the shop in the terminal. I bought crudites and water for my return trip and then we headed back to the boarding area.
12:15 p.m. Clear standby for 12:30 p.m.
12:17 p.m. Board plane.
12:33 p.m. Door closes.
12:43 p.m. Wheels up.
1:20 p.m. Touchdown.
1:25 p.m. Deplane.
1:29 p.m. Pay for parking.
1:31 p.m. Arrive at car.
1:35 p.m. Leave airport.
1:37 p.m. Enter secret freeway.
1:53 p.m. Leave secret freeway.
1:56 p.m. Arrive home.
Yeah, now Hunki and I will both be MVP Gold for yet another year and my AS MVP Gold lanyard has taken its virgin flight.
Notes:
Saw only one other MVP Gold lanyard during the trip.
Complimentary Red Hook Winter Ale, Sylvan Ridge Merlot, Fall River wild rice chips and Zesty Salsa were served on both legs.
Two persons, both of whom require seat belt extenders, cannot sit next to one another on a Dash 8.
There is a new flight history display at the train to the North Terminal in Seattle. On this display there is a drawing of what looks very suspiciously like my Aunt Wanelda and me flying out of ORD in the early 50s.
*The secret freeway is very secret so we cannot disclose its exact location, beginning or end. I personally decide that I enter it when I leave Queen Anne and leave it when I arrive at the airpot, but there are others with different opinions.
Total mileage accrued:
Actual flight miles = 258 each RT
Bonus flight miles = 742 each RT
Gold double bonus = 1,000 each RT
Visa purchase miles = 69 each
Double AS purchase = 69 each
Portland Bonus = 2,000 each
Total miles for each of us = 4,138
Total cost of trip $69.00 each.
Hunki is devoting the rest of this day to football rivalry.
