After techgirl and I find our USB cables, there will probably be some more added.

Find OUR USB cables? Some of us never lost ours. :P

I'm just trying to figure out how many of the lovely photos of the physics experiment we conducted on the plane I want to download.

It is so fun to drink with a rocket scientist.

Oh sweetie... I was referring to the WATER BOTTLE physics experiment we conducted on the 777.

I would never think of a FACIAL as being a physics experiment... not for you, anyhow!

I really enjoyed JSD's trip report at the top of this thread. However, it seems to me that subsequently it has become some kind of repartee among insiders. Perhaps a Yahoo Group account could be opened for such purpose? I mean no offense to anyone and advanced apologies to those who take one.

I mean no offense, either, but I don't really "get" your post. Why isn't this the place for people to follow up/comment, whether they attended, or not.

If you're so concerned about not being an "insider," you could have gone on the trip.

As one who wanted to attend the gathering but had to cancel, I'm glad to see this thread, as is, even if I don't understand every reference.

I may be in the minority, but I've always thought the afterposts from folks who have attended DOs makes reading the threads kind of fun. And it always makes me want to kick myself for not going when I seem to have missed out on something.

I guess everyone gets something different out of trip reports... some people read them for descriptions of the food, some to find out what time a plane took off, and some to grab a voyeuristic look at the weekend in one of those "wish I had been there" kinda ways.

Then again, it took me about two years of reading FT (and never posting) before I realized that about 50% of what gets posted here seems to be some type of "you had to be there" kind of thing... that is what the Community part of it is all about. That is also what spurred me to reregister (since I lost the password I had signed up with WAY back when) and get my rear to some of these DOs so I wouldn't miss anymore fun.

I loved JSD's report and subsequent comments. I wasn't there so I don't understand all the comments. But it sounded like fun. I was just trying to figure out in my head if I could leave my family for a weekend and drink like a fish. Sounds like fun to me!

As someone who only went to my first Do this year--and like tech girl, after a long time of lurking--I really like reading both the reports and the follow-up; knowing the responders (and even not knowing the responders) makes it fun and makes the report come alive, and it certainly leads one to kick oneself for not having also made the trip.

Sounds like you all had a blast--next time, I want to come along!
