BA first class LHR-ORD

Because I needed to get back to LAX and I only wanted to cash in 125K miles from the QF frequent flyer program, I had to fly to ORD. For those of you unfamiliar with the redention of QF points, the awards are based on total miles flown, NOT on the cities flown to. Therefore to go on BA, using QF points, would cost me 200,000 points from LAX, or 125,000 points from ORD. So I chose the smaller award redemption, as I had a couple of segments form a One World Explorer which I used to go from ORD-LAX.
I arrived at LHR term 4 where it was very crowded. Check in was VERY quick. I hurried to the Concorde room where I had a great piece of ginger caramel cake, a taste of carrott cake, and afternonn tea sandwiches consisting of salmon and shrimp. All drinks and food are complimentary. One of the best clubs besides THE WING in HKG that I have been to. Internet, fabulous views and very courteous staff. Who could want more?
Headed out to GATE 5 where there was a crowd trying to board the 777. There was a separate line for First and Business class passengers. I headed on into the jetway, and onto the plane. First class was fitted with the new seats, but the old small video screens. There were only 5 people in the first class cabin this flight, yet coach and business were quite full. Seems as if BA does NOT upgrade people if a cabin is full.
Immediately after sitting down in seat 2K, I was given an amenity kit, socks and eye shades. A diet coke was brought to me, and a plate of cashews. Menus were then handed out with a take off canape tray of mozzarella and tomato rolls, salmon and spinach rounds, and a small piece of beef on toast. For todays flight here is the menu transcript....

Warm fruit or plain scones seved with clotted cream and strawberry jam

Afternoon tea pastries.

I had the bell peppers and for the main entree I had both the crab cream curry and the roasted vegeteble tarts. No comment was made as to why I wanted two entrees. I just wanted to taste everything. I have never seen so much crab as an entree on an airline. Absolutely fantastic. Afternoon tea was great as the scones were warm and the clotted cream was fresh.
IFE was great. Saw MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING and laughed so loud that the FA came over to me to see if everything was " OK". After a short rest were over Chicago. Flight time was 8 hours and 2 minutes
My opinion is that BA has the most comfortable seats in first next to CX. This flight had some excellent food including a great trio of sherbets. The IFE as always is top notch. Not only 30 videos to choose from but also a great pre -programmed selection of movies and TV programs. Unitl next time...

Seems that BA F has good food. Thank you for the report. My sister regretted using her miles in Business instead of not waiting a bit longer to fly F.
