Got to LAX at 2:30 for the 3:15 departure. Exprected the line for Terminal 1 to stretch most of the way to Terminal 2, but surprisingly there was NO line. We departed with 15 open seats (1 in F) from Gate 12 early. Another surprise was that they had a full staff of 4 F/A's on the A319, which was 710UW, an EOW and obviously the 10th 319 they got. I had been on a flight in November with the lead, a very nice young lady who commuted from Nassau to the PHL base. 2/3 in the back were transfers from BWI, don't know about the 3rd.
IFE consisted of Ice Age, an episode of Frasier (I think, I was talking to the lead during that) History Cahnnel, HGTV on Embassy Row in DC, and ESPN from Victoria Falls and the Strongest Man Competition. Attache magazine has a new look for the July issue. Easier to read destination maps. The Shuttle inset and the Eurpoe map with all the lines is gone. Bigger fold out system map, as well as a bigger Carribbean inset. The Orlando and Munich airport diagrams are gone. Dave's column highlights the CLT station manager. The only complaint is that the page with the audio selection is harder to read than before, as they begin the description of the next channel right after the previous one, and not in separate columns like before. Other new things include description of seats on the 330 and ways to earn bonus mileage and partners.
Dinner was a choice of filet, stuffed chicken breast, cold seafood and pasta. Appetizer was 1 piece of smoked salmon with trimmings. Salad had a choice of creamy caesar or mandarin vinagrette. I choose the chicken with a mix of both dressings. The chicken was all right (I had steak the night before). The vegetables were tastless diced potatoes, and a mix of peppers. Bread basket was sourdough loaf, mini sourdough rolls and black olive rolls. Dessert was a warm cookie. I still miss the sundae's. She came around several times with the snack basket starting 1:45 out of PHL.
The ride was bumpy for the first 90 minutes, and then smoothed out after we finished crossing the rockies, and then nothing once we reached the mid-west. Our original cruising altitude was 29,000. Don't know if we deviated at all. Smooth landing in PHL with a nice view of the fireworks at the Vet. Parked at B7 around 11pm.
While I was talking to the lead, she told me that on her flight out to LAX Thursday night, the pilots told them that the 330's are going, and they are going to get 767-300/400's in their place. She didn't know that the F/A proposal was being sent to vote, but she told me they asked for 90 million in concessions but they gave them 74mil and they accepted. She calculated that her salary would be comparable to July of 1989, just before the mergers. They are still waiting on the pilots, CWA and fleet service, which wants to go last. The salary adjustment would be in place until 2008. She doesn't care, she just wants a job.
You might think she owuld have trouble commuting from NAS, especially in the winter. However, they fly the 757 from PHL staffed with only 4 F/A's, which leaves 2 jumpseats open, and they also fly the 767 from CLT daily with 5 or 6 F/A's. She also told me they brought back the daily 319 to LGA and that all of the flights are running near capacity. There were 20 open seats from NAS to PHL when she commuted to PHL on Sunday morning. I doubted that they would run the 767, but I checked when I got home, and low and behold they do.</font>

No timeline was mentioned for the long haul fleet situation. I am sure nothing will happen before next spring the earliest, when the restructuring is in full effect.
I also forgot to mention that they are once again using pints of water in FC to "conserve" the amount of bottled water they distribute. Liter's are still being used in the main cabin and they have been told to not give them to individuals if at all possible.

You got pints? The FA on PIT-SAN 6/30 (connecting flight from LGW-PIT) gave us the big water bottles they'd also given us in Envoy without us even asking. Didn't catch her name, but she was a knockout blonde who ran around like a demon (in high heels!) the whole flight. Hard to believe I was in domestic F.
