Help needed!! YUL to ATH

Good evening!

I'm trying to help my fiancee's best friend to get from YUL to ATH anytime in July and return in August. So far my search has been deceiving. Cheapest fares were in the 1500-1800$CAN and she need 6 seats, as she is travelling with her hubby and their four children.

Any idea on how to reduce the cost of her travel plans? I know she is willing to drive up to 3-4 hours to get to alternate airports.

Thanks!

Looking forward to your advices!

Not to be rude but Trip Reports really isn't the place to post this question. Perhaps a post in Mileage Run or the Air Canada forum would be more appropriate?

That said, in cases like this IMHO the best thing to do is to find a travel agent who would have access to consolidator fares which will be the most rock bottom price you can get. They probably won't earn miles but they'll get there. Otherwise, Priceline might work too! To get an idea of what you'd pay, visit HTTP://www.biddingfortravel.com

Not to be rude, but the header of the post reads like this:

"Discussion concerning the travel of our FlyerTalk audience"

There is no reference to "PAST, PRESENT OR FUTUR" travel.

This being said, I'll follow your advice and get them to call a travel agent that works with consolidators.

Thanks

You forgot to read the forum title :

FlyerTalk Trip Reports

Discussion concerning the travel of our FlyerTalk audience.

No, it doesn't specify past, present or future. So, if you wish to post a fantasy report based on what you IMAGINE your fiancee's best friend's trip will be like, that's fine.

The only reason I mentioned the correct forum in the first place is the fact that many knowlegable FTers never visit Trip Reports. Thus, your question won't get the attention you want. It's not a criticism, it's a suggestion so that you get the best answer.

kanebear,

I'm not having the best day of my life today, so I apologize.

The hardest part of FT is to find the right forum, as many subject can reach more than one forum at a time.

Thanks for the info!

Try Orbitz.com, Expedia.com and travelcity.com and of course your Sunday paper may have addresses of consolidator travel agents.

Isn't Air Transat the airline that runs out of fuel?

Maybe your fiancee's best friend should do some nested ticketing?

Montreal-New York-Montreal is 123+tax GBP with Air Canada
New York-Manchester-New York is 157 GBP+tax with Pakistan International Airlines
Manchester-London-Manchester is 30 GBP+tax with BMI british midland
London-Athens-London is 99 GBP+tax with Lufthansa (via Germany) or 99 GBP+tax with CSA Czech Airlines (via Prague).
Round-trip total 409 GBP+LOT of taxes.

If person conserned does not want to make so many transfers, then Olympic Airways operates direct flights from MAN to ATH on Wednesdays and Saturdays (chepest fare 183 GBP+taxes, fare basis QPROML1). Total from YUL to YUL will be 463 GBP+taxes then.
