Total Engine Failure
Thankfully I was on a train coming returning from the Chicago Do Committee's restaurant selection outing and taste test. Yumm. Details on the choice will be posted in the Community Forum.
But back to the train, about 2/3s of the way home, the train lights went out and we started to coast. I thought, this isn't good. And it was not. They could not restart the engine, which probably teed off the train behind us as much as it did our train. (Glad the train behind us did not barrel into us.)
Finally they got the okay for the train behind us to push us along the route. It was slow going at first...about double the normal load. At the next station we got off our un-air conditioned car and boarded the other train filled with people that were delayed due to our train.
We were about 45 minutes late (on a 45 minute ride). But no one here read this far to care, did they?

Seriously, though, glad you're ok, and hopefully this won't happen to anyone during the Chicago weekend.

Wendy,
that happened to me on the Metra train coming into Union Station on the Aurora express.... we were going full speed through Lombard when it just died.... heh... was interesting.... luckily we stopped within walking distance to a station and they just had us walk to the nearest station and wait for the standard train to come by and get us, which was only about a 15 minute wait...
