In case anyone is going over to Thailand for more than a mileage run, Samui is a great place to chill.

Is it better than Phuket? By the way Cathay Pacific I hear is offering a $529 fare from the USA to Thailand and Hong Kong on the web.

Yes, in fact, they say it is what Phuket used to be, when it was first discovered. Of course, now Phuket is just expensive mass restaurant and hotel chains, stuffed full of all the generic tourists that flock to such establishments.

Also, with regards to CX's fares, before posting you should have done some due diligence. You would have found that the fare in which you refer is so restricted that one doesn't even get frequent flyer miles!
