UA822 EZE-ORD First Class
UA822 EZE-ORD, Seat 2A
I can't really comment on the boarding reception, as I was escorted onto the aircraft by my UA "Angel" so I didn't pay much attention to the FA's. Pre-departure drinks and newspapers came around quickly, and boarding proceeded smoothly (EZE boards all pax from the front door so the entire pax list parades through the F cabin). I did notice that the purser handed hot towels to us during the initial drinks service (that is during pre-departure drinks). This was a nice touch. Amenity kits and noise canceling headphones (that worked well) were also distributed. Chanell 9 was not available.
The F cabin reflected the low load on this evening's flight. Only 4 seats were occupied in F. After take off, menus came out. The Chief Purser greeted me by name and gave me a special thank-you for being a 100K flyer. I was also given first choice of what I wished to have from the menu, which had the following on offer:
To begin:
Mushroom ragout in puff pastry
- Braised fennel
(or)
Parma Ham and Mozzarella Cheese
- Hard boiled-egg, grilled asparagus
Garden salad with balsamic vinaigrette or Caesars dressing
Assorted of specialty breads fresh from the bakery
Main Course:
Fillet Mignon with barolo wine sauce and cremini mushrooms
- Artichoke and spinach gratine, lemon thyme potato pie
Sauted Sea-bass and grilled shrimp with saffron juice
- buillone potatoes fried leeks and roma tomato
Roasted breast of chicken with balsamic Rosemary jus
- sauted leeks and lentil compote
The Early Seating meal
Parma ham and mozzarella with grilled asparagus
Roasted prawns and corn salsa
Emmenthal, brie and goat cheese
Dessert
International cheese sampler
Emmenthal, brie and Goat cheese
Ice cream with sundae toppings
Fresh seasonal fruit
Breakfast - prior to arrival
Breakfast sampler
Ham, cheese and seasonal fruit
Mushroom leek omelette in pastry with porcini mushroom sauce
- Pork loin with bacon and Parmesan cheese potato panchacke
Featured Wines
Champagne - Brut, Dom Perignon
Malbec - Trapiche Oak cask, Mendoza 1997
Port - Sandeman's Porto
Chose the Ham & Mozarella appetizer, which was good. Then made the mistake of having the fish, which was bad. I only nibbled a bit on it and asked the purser if I could have something else. She had all meals available so I had the steak. The steak was a very nice surprise, not overdone and actually red in the middle. Sauce & veggies that came with the steak were also good. The cheese was mediocre, but I was hungry so I had a double serving. I was going to want the ice-cream, but when dessert came around, the ice-cream was not available -- they instead had some fruit tarte with creme that I didn't try. Service was not bad, but not great, I certainly had a better FA group on my flight coming down. We arrived on time at ORD and I headed for concourse C to use the Arrivals services.
