Getting people home

I've been on the ground, but a couple of my employees were on trips when the terrorist attacks occurred.

I got a call from one of my guys stuck in Atlanta, Friday morning. He had flow UA OAK-ATL. United told him they could not book him back home until Monday. While he was on the phone, I checked the Delta web site and saw there was one open seat ATL-OAK on DL. I told him to talk to our corporate travel agency and rebook on Delta, we would eat the cost of the ticket.

They were able to get him the ticket. Delta wasn't going to honor the cheap UA ticket. He told me that the airport was very tense, and the flight attendents were particularly worried. The captain came over and calmed them down (I guess this was at the gate). The flight went smoothly. My guy went to pick up his car at Oakland. When he pulled out his credit card to pay for the parking, he was told to put it away, "it is on us".

I got a call from another of my people in India. He was supposed to fly back Sunday on United, but it looks like United isn't flying to India anymore. They rebooked him on a Monday flight on British Airways -- I'm hoping to see him on Wednesday.
