Aces 521, BOG-UIO, Coach Class
I was checked in by a friendly Aces agent. I handed her my LatinPass card and was assured that my LatinPass number was in the record. I promptly received my boarding pass which did not show my LatinPass number.
Boarding commenced about 15 minutes before scheduled departure time. Both the announcements and safety demonstrations were conducted in Spanish and English. The flight departed 35 minutes late because of thunderstorms in the Bogota area. Aces personnel kept Aces passengers informed of the situation.
Aces uses a new Airbus 320 with a 3-3 configuration. Aces does not offer business class on this flight. The seat pitch of approximately 36-38 inches was more comfortable than what is offered on US domestic flights. The cabin was clean and in very good condition. The seats were fairly comfortable.
The flight was designated as a snack flight (The flight time was 80 minutes). Unlike US airlines, a decent snack was served. The snack service consisted of a cold dish, chicken with vegetables, and desert, quince topped with whipped cream. Drinks were served including freshly brewed Colombian coffee. The flight attendants were friendly and attentive. More drinks were offered until our final approach to Quito. The flight arrived only 18 minutes late. There was no jetway so we disembarked using the stairs and walking on the tarmac.
Aces has a good economy class product, far superior than that of US airlines. You will definitely get what you paid for. A-

You're most welcome dgolds! I hope these trip reports will make people in the FT community aware that there are good airlines in Latin America, some of which are better than our beloved US airlines.

Thanks AusTXHiker for your superb reports on airline service in the Latin American world!
I really appreciate your details in the meal services and am glad that there are still airlines in the world, which maintain some good service. A snack or hot breakfast on an 80 minutes flight is possible, if the airline is willing to provide that type of service.
You open my eyes to many superb Latin American airlines, which seem to have very good service and ground staff.
Many thanks!
