GVA-NCE-BRU

I left the Intercontinental in Geneva which is my usual hotel and the only decent hotel in the U.N. district for GVA. At the airport, I found a small hidden Swiss Chalet restaurant up on the 1st floor behind the shops. Great Swiss food in a chalet setting.

Then I moved to the French section of the airport and waited for the bus to the Air Littoral flight to NCE. I got the front row seat with all the leg room on the Canadair 50. It was a quick smooth flight without delays which is nearly unheard of when going to NCE in the summer.

I went to the Hertz Gold cabin and found I was upgraded from a mid-size car to a Mercedes 220C. NCE has my favorite Hertz in the world!

I met my wife there who I flew business class from LAX on BA for 80K miles. BA is the best since they don't charge any extra miles for Euro connections.

Then we drove to Juan-Les-Pens to the Belles Rives hotel which has the best sea view of any small hotel in the area. It was built in the 30's and still has all the old-world charm.

After a fun weekend of wine tasting and meeting with friends, we both went back to NCE this morning. She was heading back to LAX, and I went on to BRU. I was on Sabena on a 7AM flight. I had expected no delays at this hour, but sure enough, we spent 40 minutes parked on the tarmac at NCE due to air traffic delays.

When we finally arrived, I went to Hertz to pick up my mid-size rental. I was very happy to be a Gold member as the normal line was quite long. I was upgraded to a Volvo Wagon and made my way to Antwerpen to the Hilton on the famous Groenplatz near the Cathedral. The area is very lively in the summer and we just had a nice dinner at a Sardinian restaurant.

All-in all, not a bad week of business travel. Tomorrow night I fly BA to LHR and stay at my usual Sheraton Skyline. Then Friday I'm on the BA flight to LAX in a comfortable 1st class bed.
