A tale of three NYC hotels
Although I had to work three of the four days over Labor day weekend, I had a lot of fun meeting AuH20 and seeing wanderlust again. Separate get togethers and an awesome time, thanks guys.
I'll spare y'all the adventures with these guys. I'll focus on three hotels:
"W" hotel: I stayed here before but this time had a double bed. The room was smaller than the big suite I had the last time. It's about as narrow as a train track but still confortable, I think these are the original Heavenly Beds... purrfect for earning double snoring points.
I went to meet AuH20 who was also staying at the "W." Reservations said he didn't check in. Two minutes later, he walks off the elevator. Strange.
We also had dinner in the restaurant with his friends. He had duck, don't know how that was but my boneless chicken was a bit cold but edible. Still so much pretention everywhere, you get up and they fold the napkins into funny little hats.
The Whiskey Club bar is noisy and crowded and dark and it's best to wear really dressy casual or they may not let you in. No Cindy Crawford in the house though.
AuH20 and I treid to use the computer in his room to post a trip report live time. Could not get it to work. he calls for help, it did NOT come.
SCORE: ABOUT THREE PAWS UP with the outer most claws bent!
Millenium Hilton: the second night, the second hotel (Company pays since I'm due in work early sunday morning.) I get a nice big corner room. Check in took awhile because they could NOT find my reservation. But the room was ready and had a nice view of NYC.
Asked consierge to call Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for reservations for two (MY buddy wanderlust and myself) for sunday night at7:30p. They say they will. Next day: NO RESERVATION. I guess they didn't bother.
Problems with the MIllenium bill:
*Got charged $36 dollars for parking. DUH! I don't have a car. wanderlust noticed it and alerted me to it! Thanks MAN! This happened twice before... and they did take it off but how can they make that mistake so many times.
I also noticed my HHonors # and U-A mileage were not on the bill when I got them the next day. I can double dip, company books the business weekend rate, althought it seemed high. I told the desk person they wereenot there but she assures me they are in the computer.
SCORE: By a whisker: TWO PAWS UP.
Marriott World Trade Center: There were two check-in people at the height of check in. One was a family taking forever to check in. The other a man and his won. Two in front of me. Eventually I get there and check in is fast.
Next morning: I figure I can go back to the hotel after work and get my bag from my room rather than lug it all over NYC. 1:30p they call and warn me about the 99 late checkout fee. I get them to extend my checkout. They do till 2. Time to move last!
The consierge was hit or miss> I thought of car service to get wanderlust to EWR. They say "cab's about the same price: 44 dollars NOT including tolls and other stuff.) IN addition, instead of taking out maps if you need directions they verbally tell you.
SCORE: nice staff, about 3 paws up.
