IAH-MEM-SGF-MEM-IAH (NW)

WOW the counter staff checking and boarding NW at IAH are helpful and friendly. I quickly found the reason for this they are CO employees.

Fiancee and I got upgraded I really like the foot rests in first but that is about all. The FA's were alright but seemed disinterested. I tried a Harvey Wienhard's wheat, good beer, does NW buy seconds from brewers or do they damage the cans themselves? Both my beer and my finacee's looked like they had been dragged behind a car for a mile or so. Departure was 30 min late but arrival was only 10 min late.

Very uneventful, the CO agent who checked us in at IAH also gave us the exit row on the Saab 340. First time on a 340 rather liked it as a plane still rather be on a ERJ-145.

I also used a coupon from National to get a free Emerald card at the Airport. (I think I can get a few more for those who want them, if so I'll post on Coupon Connection.)

Went standby for the AM flight and had no problems on it(thank you ITN). Slept the entire way so nothing to report.

Got upgraded and had a very uneventful flight . Same worn cabin as the first DC-9. One thing I do like about the NW cabin is the PSU's and Handlebar along the overhead compartment, makes it possible to get out of a window seat without waking the sleeping fiancee. Did notice a number of Priceline.com enevelopes as people boarded and the flight was empty so NW must be selling that excess inventory.

Overall, the DC-9's reminded me why I won't spend my own money on NW for 1st domestically, it's not worth it. Also I was reminded of how badly CO spoils me in first. Things like large comfy leather seats instead just of wider coach seats.
All in all I can't complain as I got the tickets for a song and CO does not fly into SGF. Does anyone know if any airline gives its 1st class passengers special perks wheh they switch to its commuter planes?

I don't know if this goes for NW as well, but the beer cans always look like heck on DL because they keep the beer with the ice which seems to bang up the cans a great deal.

I don't mind as it doesn't seem to damage the contents of the can ...

Oh sorry for the confusion, when I said "I tried a Harvey Wienhard's" I meant I had both a Harvey Wallbanger and a Henry Weinhard's poured into one big frothy glass. Maybe that is why the name is a little fuzzy. Anyone see that horse that kicked me in the head????

It was actually pretty good, the HENRY Weinhard Wheat.

Surprised to hear that NW is serving Henry's on their flights...good brew.

Good report, in spite of your fuzzy memory!
