EWR-LAS-LAX

This was the good luck/bad luck/good luck trip.

UA 661 EWR-ORD: Plane sits on the runway for about 45 minutes. I made it into first and I guess to pacify angry first class flyers they did three drink runs. The F-A was surprised I only wanted Coca COLA (I told her I would prefer PEPSI but I can't drink when I'm on Work mode.)

Flight was generally uneventual. I took the giant chicken salad for dinner which was filling enough.

We got in 40 minutes late and in my chicken scratch handwriting thought I had five minutes to make my connection. So I run through ORD, through the tunnel and get to the other side and realize I was heading for the ARRIVAl gate for the lAS flight. PLUS I still had 35 minutes to my flight. (I wrote a 9 as an 8!) out of breath I head straight for the Red carpet Lounge and order a Vodka tonic (I was out of breath and the attractive bartender said I needed something stronger than COKE so I said I'll drink a toast to my buddy MileCrazy and order his favorite drink.)

UA 711 I casually walk back to my connection, which left on time. The F-A said "shut the door, we got an on-time winner." that Vodka Tonic must be powerful stuff because I slept through most of the flight.

The Grey Line shuttle seemed to take forever to get the Flamingo Hilton. We stoppeed at the Hard ROck Cafe and these young whippernspapers took forever to be convinced this was not the shuttle to the Rio. (or whereever they were going.)

I was the LAST drop off at the Flamingo. Luckily Hilton HHonors had a room ready and I got upgraded to I think the same great top floor room I had the last time. Nice view of the strip. SO I crashed within five minutes.

Early start to workday, it went fine and I had time to play about 30 bucks of Blackjack at the Fremont (sorry M-C, could not find Gladys! I did win 180 bucks... twice I bet 25 dollar chips, too busy watching my watch.

Made it to the plane to the dreaded U-A shuttle iwth five minutes to spare.

UA 2563: the dreaded shuttle. First is full but thankfully got the first row. The F-A was new and slow. She skipped the first row until this big southerner stood up and said "HONEY, We got some parched guys here." I got the aisle next to MR. Southern who babbled the whole trip about how much money he won & lost in Vegas.

I hope my return tuesday night is a little more normal.

Catman!

I particularly appreciate the humor evident in this report - that humor is what often gets us through some of the more trying experiences we all face in travelling so often! Good luck with your returns, may they be many and happy!
