SQ A350

This was a complete chance encounter. I had booked SIN-KUL in J, for a leg of a business trip. Planned equipment was a 777.

Near the gate, I saw 4 pilots, and started to get suspicious of such a heavy crew loading for a 30 minute flight.

Then I turn the corner and see a brand new A350 sitting at the gate! My early morning commute just went from mundane to exciting.

More pics. The windows were normal sized. Not extra large like the 787.

One window still had the protective film on it. Even though there are 3 windows/seat, you can really only see out one of them.

Overall, it was a smooth ride and neat unexpected experience. I've never experienced the "new plane" smell before. I would say the quality of the leather is a big step up compared to their old J, which I thought felt synthetic. The other materials were also very nice compared to other plane interiors I've seen.

It is a nice product, and it seems silly to complain, but I never really was a fan of the SQ J seating. It is wide, but not long. And the foot-well at an angle isn't comfortable to me. The flip down bed is also an oddity.

My thought's exactly. Thanks for the TR - is there a link to your photos or can you make them larger?

Thank you for the comments. I haven't figured out a way to resize them. I uploaded directly to flyertalk. If you click each picture, it pops up larger.

I'll see if I can make further changes.

Yes, if you upload directly to FT it will only show them as enlargeable thumbnails, like we see here. To get them larger directly in the report you will need to host with a third party and then embed using image tags.

True. I think SQ is the only carrier that operates this flip down bed. Well, I'm biased so I still support SQ lol!

Effort is required to change to bed mode and back.

^ Great experience, and thanks for posting this TR!

Was the mirror in an odd position to use? Also, did that large squarish release (?) on the left edge of the table get in the way?

The mirror is in an odd place. You'd have to contort yourself to get to it.

The square table release was not in the way. I thought it was actually a unique feature to be able to adjust the table vertically. I haven't see that before.

After seeing this report I believe SQ new J on A350 is much superior than QR J on the A350.
