The Agent spent a couple of minutes on the computer getting the bags interlined through from DUB to LHR with BA, and showed me the tags before attaching them to the bags: I felt confident we would all meet up again at LHR :)

As a domestic first/international business class passenger on AA/US you get 3 bags at 70lbs. So you could've gotten at least 20 more lbs of shopping in those bags.;)

Well here goes … time to cut it open and see what … whaaaat? A rare steak? Oh, joy and bliss, even though it was a little on the tough side for filet.

My experience also, although I didn't think the meat was bad quality either. I think the 77W probably has slightly better/more modern cooking facilities that the A330 though!

Thanks for posting! Brought back memories of my many visits to SAV.

The city is indeed an active port - seem to remember the tour guide on a river cruise saying it was the second busiest on the East Coast.

Did you do a ghost tour? Allegedly the most haunted city in America!

Great trip report - really enjoyed reading it :)

A pleasure to read as always. Given the (moderate & balanced) T8191 seal of approval I shall consider the US A330 for a future TATL hop either ex-DUB or ex-LHR.

I await Part 4...

Thank you, and it is now posted :)

Yeah, but at my age and with my back? BA says we could take 4 x 32kg each ... you have to be joking!!

Ahh, 77W in Business back from LAX to LHR in Jan - looking forward to seeing that. It seems highly regarded, and we already have our single window seats reserved [in 3J/4J] :)

1. I don't believe in ghosts
2. I don't go out much after dark, as I need my sleep :D

Thanks for reading, folks. It makes the [small] effort worthwhile ^

That mini cabin really is very good ^

That's what BAFT told me to do, so I'm not going to argue!!

I had the Boursin encrusted steak on an AA 777 flight last year and it looked significantly different to the one you had on the A330, I wonder if the ovens have changed.

Very readable and objective trip report as we've come to expect from the author. Coincidentally, the experience very closely matches my own on an almost identical itinerary.

Definitely agree, I was in 4J on the way out and whilst there is some galley noise you can slip on the Bose noise-cancelling headphones and easily forget about it. Note that this could be more of an issue for a night flight where you just want to sleep though or if you're not traveling solo. For me, premium travel is all about privacy - from 4J you can literally only see the feet of two other people, no one can see you and there are only 8 people max in the cabin. Given my preferences I think it was decidedly superior to a 747 UD.

Another tremendous report from Uncle T - you really do set the bar very high. ^

I've moved this thread into the Trip Reports forum so others can enjoy this delightful travelogue.

That steak looks amazing. If AA can do it, why the flip can't BA?!?!

Enjoyed the last parts of the report. SAV looks very cute and quaint.

I'm glad to see you reconsidered your earlier decision not to write any more trip reports. ;)

Great report.

As an Emerald that bumps it up to four bags on the AA domestic F sector, and due to a US DOT regulation that gets replicated on every sector on the rest of the itinerary. :)

Curiously, iWife's steak was 'well done' in the BA style. No, I don't understand that either!!

... and, yes, SAV is a very nicely designed and constructed airport. Simple, just avoiding the 'modern idiom/iconic' crepe!. Just the 14 stands with the 'long walk', but the architecture and general layout got a big + from us.
