Thanks extramileage. And thank you for your explanation zcat18. AC is seldom the cheapest fare and it is good to hear that some of this goes toward a better passenger experience. My next flight on a 787 may well be to China; I am interested in hearing from anyone who has flown on a Chinese carrier's DreamLiner in Y-class.

I really share your overall enthusiasm for the 787, can't really pinpoint it but its just a lovely place to be, especially on a long haul flight. I've been fortunate enough to fly all my 787 legs in business (BA) so interesting to hear a view from a different pespective.

As for your flight to China, I'm presuming it would be with Hainan? I think their Y hard product is much of a muchness with other carriers, though such things as IFE and food may be limited. A colleague of mine used to be CA cabin crew and she always tells me to fly Hainan if possible as their service is well above the well polished but emotionless standard of other Chinese carriers.

Thanks LOUDNOISES.

I have never flown a Chinese carrier. Nice to have a thumbs up for Hainan. I welcome any input on China Southern and Xiamen.

I've flown Hainan last summer (not sure which plane it was though) from Beijing to Brussels and it was terrible! Service was almost non-existant, they ran out of food (twice) and those little vents did not exist in Y.

Honestly, compared to AC, Hainan is terrible and I don't see how I would fly them again.
The IFE did have a decent selection, but most of it was non-English from what I can tell.

Thanks iceblueshoes. I welcome any input. If I fly Hainan or another 787 operator, I will write a TR and link it to this thread.
