Yes its not the most efficient itinerary but I wanted maximum comfort for this one and zero time off work. Why am I doing this? GGL time :D

Planes - BA E170, BA A319, AA 77W, AA 321T, AA 757

I have a rucksack only with me with the essentials needed, and an unlimited GoGo inflight WiFi pass sorted for updates :D

I have reserved the main J cabin outbound on the 77W and the mini cabin on the way back - both right hand window seats.
Don't expect as much text as madfish but I will hopefully keep this up to date with thoughts and pictures :)

Next stop LCY, ETA 7:15pm ^

ttama Apr 2, 2015 1:19 am

Safe travels!

run44 Apr 2, 2015 1:25 am

Looking forward to your updates.
Enjoy!

madfish Apr 2, 2015 1:57 am

Looking forward to reading it.

No babybus this time?

Pictures would be good. I need to add some to mine and finish it off.

chris1979 Apr 2, 2015 2:04 am

Enjoy.

We are en route to HI ourselves.

mark_h Apr 2, 2015 2:18 am

I'm starting a TP run DUB-HNL tomorrow, with the LCY-DUB positioning flight this evening. I think I'll share the DUB-LHR flight tomorrow morning and also the return leg on Monday.

Perhaps we can do joint before / after comparisons to see who has fared better :)

Looking forward to the updates in any event.

Cheers

Mark

LCY is packed! Took 35 mins from moorgate and 5 mins through security. Now at the bar waiting for the gate :)

Yup, quite rammed at present. I'll try and get a snap of your flight taking off. Currently sat by the windows near the gates.

Safe travels and have fun!

Arrived safely.... uneventful flight from LCY. Only 2 rows of CE for a full flight.
Walk to the radisson was quick and now sat back at the bar :)

Boarding at LCY can only be described as a bundle....complete shambles.

Tomorrow DUB to LHR has 10 rows of CE :o

Thought I had convinced you to switch to PremierInn.. enjoy - safe travels.

teledude Apr 3, 2015 12:03 am

You did but I forgot ;)

Left the rad at 6.46 and in the DAA lounge at 7 on the dot with a nice brisk walk. Not the best lounge but functional!

What seat number are you in on the 08:50 this morning? Will come and say hello!

Would love to join you in the CCR, but T3 connection on AA!

Got 6F on the 833 :)

Do they still have Bitter Orange?

Give you credit (or think your nuts).
Fly safe.

teledude Apr 3, 2015 1:30 am

Boarded from 302 again... Looks like it might be ontime :D

teledude Apr 3, 2015 3:58 am

Flight was uneventful and CC were very friendly. Breakfast was fine for the short hop over even if the bacon looked like leather! Tasty anyway :)

Transfer to T3 was easy and boarding passes all printed to LAX without hassle.

Currently sat in Admirals T3 chilling out with a cold beer before the 12.50 to JFK :D

neat - I like the 77W over the pond.

- i'd dash tho to the Cathay lounge for pre-flight noodles rather than eat in the AA lounge ;)

I will be staying at the Crowne Plaza LAX during my DUB-LIH run next week. Picked it because I could pay using IHG points and it's walkable from the airport (15-20 mins)
I had been told by an AAngel that any cab out of LAX would cost $25 minumum, but I kooed on the "citymapper" app and could book an Ubber for $7.

You can jump on one of the regular free shuttle busses that pass just outside the terminal. Go to the Red zones and wait. They come along every 15/20 mins.

Have you tried walking it before? I have and it taxed the usual CWS skill base, so I'd not recommend it from TBIT. Basically too many flyovers and there aren't pavements where you would expect them to be. (Always a bit ironic given California tries so hard to reduce carbon emissions and yet makes the scantest provision for pedestrians) . Maybe from T1 it's do-able. There are very regular shuttle buses there, I can't see you waiting 20 minutes but you need to be a bit assertive in waving them down, they also serve 2 other hotels nearby, so by the time you've read the list of hotels on the matrix display the shuttle would have pulled off.

It's not a bad hotel, British management, but it's not as well soundproofed as the hotels nearby, and I'd go to the Hilton because it's shuttle is sub 15 minutes in rotation.

The only airport hotel which is walkable (in my opinion) is the Concourse, which used to be the Radisson and is about to become a Hyatt..... Even then from TBIT late at night I'm not so sure about that one either.

That's what I did last month. It goes on a magical mystery tour first to another hotel.

Not sure if 25000 points for a night at the CP is worth it against paying £126 / $185ish?
(Must admit that I did that myself last month, couple of days out due to a change of plans, as it cost a little bit more cash wise and I got 2000 points back, 3 free breakfast coupons and 2 drinks coupons as my room wasn't ready at 11pm).

Very good info thanks. I did a google street view and TBH it seem a bit of a nightmare, and of course I am landing at the furthest terminal but I wasn't going to pay $25 to get to a hotel. I didnt know about the free shuttle buses. I wont be landing till after midnight, do they run all the time?

Yes, it's a 24 hour service. Don't do this, since if everyone did it they would stop it, but what I do is if a shuttle bus for the nearby hotel comes up first then I jump on that, walk into the reception and then on to the next hotel. Very naughty.

But I have lots of IHG points burning a hole in my account, so I thought why not.

What seat have you got? I loved 3A. Also go and check out the size of the toilet behind 4K, surely they could have had another seat on that plane!!

Enjoy.

7j outbound and minicabin back.

I'm never doing club tatl again. This is awesome! Let's see how the service is....

Are they your own QC25s are are they AA ones? Being provided with them on the flight would be another great bonus

teledude Apr 3, 2015 5:54 am

AA provided mate...

Menu and IFE pics soon...IFE is miles ahead of CW.

perthflyer Apr 3, 2015 6:07 am

The seats on the AA 77W are IMO superior in most ways to CW seats except for sleeping, when I think a rear-facing CW seat is better. AA has a better drinks selection - if you like Bloody Mary's, do get one (or many) on the flight - the Bloody Mary mix they stock is mighty tasty! Bonus points also for stocking Disaronno.

I've flown 3 times on the 77Ws, but all have been eastbound overnight flights so I never really got to experience the full AA service...which basically means I've been deprived of the custom sundaes for dessert!

Enjoy the flight!

I got lambasted by Hiddy and Co for expressing such views on here (AA are awful you know!), so you might want to temper that down :D

I have never had a problem with service on AA (despite some giving the impression that it is consistently below par) so it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

Enjoy the delightful AA 77W hard product!

If it is like on the A321T then I know exactly what you mean.

Have to say, will look at AA next time in order to compare fully.
