I have never had a problem with service on AA (despite some giving the impression that it is consistently below par) so it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

Enjoy the delightful AA 77W hard product!

Cannot comment on 77W but had very mixed service with AA on 4 domestics in the last week. This included A321T, and a really poor four hour flight on B738. No food and warm water to drink.

Domestic and international will be very different, just like on BA. Four hours without food is a bit much though!

For a night flight the AA77W wins for me. The bed is 6ft 3in and feels more roomy to me, and the personal storage space is far greater. The IFE is also superior. On a night flight I am personally not looking for great service, just great sleep!

teledude Apr 3, 2015 6:53 am

Gutted the WiFi isn't gogo so that's another 19usd! Doh :D. Service is fine.... ;) it's definitely not BA with a smile though :)

See if you can get hold of the can that the tomato juice comes in - it's got about 300 ingredients (mostly e-numbers) but it sure tastes good

Great TR btw

The vodka that AA serve (Tito's) is one of my favourites. I picked up a bottle duty free on my way back from BOS in March. Just a shame that the UK duty free limit for spirits is only 1L...we get 2.25L back in Australia!

JamieABZ Apr 3, 2015 7:33 am

This is great! I've booked the 77W for 3 of my flights this year - bored/frustrated with Club, so looking good! Looking forward to all the TP runners updates over the next few days.

teledude Apr 3, 2015 7:39 am

Starter and Mains done.

All very fresh, tasty and well cooked^

Not sure the in-flight WiFi will like imgur but will try :D

It's a good product, I took the trans-con in January, JFK-LAX-JFK. Service was a bit better on the way out. I really couldn't complain and I love the AA sundaes :D I need to book another flight or two now!

Have a great trip and I look forward to the updates :)

moneypooraviosrich Apr 3, 2015 8:16 am

I remember they used to come around with a trolley that had the ice cream and all sorts of toppings on it. You just chose what and how much you wanted, don't they still do this?
That sundae you picture looks awful small, but the steak looks fab!

Gimp Apr 3, 2015 8:22 am

It does look a bit on the small side, they didn't have a trolley in January, it's a small cabin, it was produced from the galley and was overflowing with my toppings of berries, nuts and whipped cream - lovely :D

teledude Apr 3, 2015 8:23 am

Sundae was prepared in the galley but was plenty of it and tasty hot fudge!

Time for some iplayer and more bloodies ;)

Steak was very good...knife not so much :D

I kinda like AA CC, very proactive and some seem to know when you like a drink. I was on my third B/M, yes third, LAS-LAX last week, (1 on the ground 2 in the air) when the guy behind us asks if there is any Champagne, only to be told that they only had a big bottle and as not to want to waste it the CC asked people in the vicinity if they wanted any as well. As we were in decent she gets some "To Go" cups out and fills them up so we can keep on drinking until we get to the gate.

teledude Apr 3, 2015 9:05 am

Seat is very comfy...more so than the babybus last week imo. Will see what it's like to sleep in on the way home :)

Currently cruising at 32000 feet doing 550mph. They seem very quick to put the seatbelt signs on...

Bloodies have been swapped for bud light ^

3 on that route is pretty immense

I had the same CC on 3 consecutive trips a few months ago - on the last flight (which happened to be LAS-LAX) the CC did the drinks run and asked me if I wanted my usual which elicited a very funny look from the lady in the seat next to me

OttoMH Apr 3, 2015 9:45 am

On-board Wifi too?? Nice..!

Those are the same seats as Cathay Business Class, right?

Yup! WiFi is very good... Not.enough bandwidth Tidal in HiFi but normal works fine ;)

Drinks service is reactive rather than proactive but not an issue.

Got cakes?!

Yeah, both are Zodiac Cirrus seats. US has them on their A330s as well.

Have you checked out the self serve 'bar' between the two cabins? I've always wondered what is stocked there as on my 77W flights after the meal service I went to sleep.

teledude Apr 3, 2015 11:16 am

Definitely not as on the ball as BA imo. Very personable crew though.

Oh and a little race over St John's! :D

On checking Flightradar, it could be UA to Dulles, AC to Halifax or National cargo ?

They prepared ice cream from the trolley on my flight last week. Choice of a few toppings and someone asked for Baileys as topping.

Champagne in plastic flute....I'll let that go for now... ;)

Welcome to the real club........I have met very few people who, having flown CX or AA in those seats would ever go back to BA. I discovered AA 2 years ago and have never looked back.

Have to say, will look at AA next time in order to compare fully.

You really should, the lounges are not great but the 777-300 seats are as good as anything BA has in any cabin.

Depends on what crew you get on BA. The best BA crews would always win out but they are few and very far between now.

My own experience is that overall AA deliver a consistent solid business class product which offers real value for money and is a major improvement over club world. The seat alone provides a personal experience akin to BA First and the inflight snacks always available and well presented.

5 years ago I would not have looked at AA, now I won't look anywhere else if that seats is on a TATL route. Enjoy HNL, I leave next week but using the baby bus as I need the tier points. Looking forward to it but once the 210 goes to 140 its back to AA and their 777-300

teledude Apr 3, 2015 12:22 pm

Just had the light snack an hour out of JFK...

Was better then it looked ;)

Nope but now you mention it he's off to try it!

teledude Apr 3, 2015 1:38 pm

Just landed... Wish me luck at immigration :D

tattikat2 Apr 3, 2015 1:39 pm

When you get to KOA, if you have time, take a cab 3-4 miles into town )kona) to "Huggos" and have beer and fish Tacos on the waters edge there.

teledude Apr 3, 2015 2:49 pm

No one waiting to process people at passport control but lucky I was forth in line. Security was a scrum too :D

Currently in Admirals by gate 42.

teledude Apr 3, 2015 4:12 pm

Getting good now...more updates soon but got an at gate opup to 1A to lax :D

Jammy Bugger! You won't be able to give me an exact take on your experience in J now so I can compare it to mine.

teledude Apr 3, 2015 5:21 pm

Imgur isn't playing ball but F on the 321T is very similar to J on the 77W :)

Nice and private though and service so far is as I'd expect from an F product ^

Bloodies are still flowing and dinner is on way :D

bermudasun Apr 3, 2015 6:57 pm

I am sure Dublin lounge and the early flights were full of people doing an Easter holiday bank holiday. I was on the 831 this morning and sure the person sitting next to me was doing a TP run. Having decided to go via IAD I am now on American 75 on my way to LAX....

teledude Apr 3, 2015 10:45 pm

20 mins out of LAX... Shattered! More updates tomorrow :)

Does catch up with you mate doesn't it. Have a great trip teledude

I'm on my way back from HNL tonight. Just having a few beers in the Sakura lounge. It's a bit naff!!

Not looking forward to the AA 757 red eye to be honest. :-(

Damn- you were high up- now you have slipped a few rungs

teledude Apr 4, 2015 7:10 am

So the 321T was great. Lovely service. Chicken was superb too ^
My only gripe was the light and noise from the galley heard from 1A. Slept a little then arrived at LAX. Wow what chaos out the front! :D Waited about 15 mins for the shuttle which dropped off at the hilton first then the CP. Got a decent enough room on the 15th floor and it's now 6am :(
