New Airports: YYZ, TPA, BOM (technically only because of the new T2)
Shortest flight: CLT-AVL or PNQ-BOM -- both are ~20 min
Longest flight: BOM-EWR (16h on a good day)
Most cramped flight: IAH-YYZ in a CRJ. Would almost take the LH flight between PNQ-FRA (10h in a 737-800 in Y) over this.
BiS miles: ~40,000
Craziest flight experience: departing BOM at midnight New Year's Eve/Day. Fireworks exploding below, beside, and even above the jet.

Adding up the miles I really feel like I flew more than I did. I don't want to ever fly this much again in a year, and if I can cut back to 75K next year that would be great.

I still have 8 segments to fly, but here is my expected EOY data:

New countries visited: Thailand, Ireland, India, British Virgin Islands
New airlines flown: Jet Airways (9W), Indigo (6E), Thai Airways (TG), EVA Air (BR), Air France (AF), Cape Air (9K)
Airports visited: 36 (new: LIS, CDG, DUB, BTV, TPE, BKK, CEI, BLR, HYD, BOM, BBI)
Flight segments: 82
Different airlines flown: 13
Shortest flight: STT-SJU (68 miles)
Longest flight: SFO-TPE (6469 miles)
BIS miles (including segments yet to fly): 126,699
Status earned: DL Platinum Medallion, Alaska MVP Gold, United Premier Silver (with 60K PQM, thanks Jeff)

Nights in hotels/away from home: too many

map including remaining segments (SMF-ATL-RSW-ATL-SMF, SMF-SLC-EWR//JFK-SLC-SMF)

Between work (mostly domestic with one Europe trip) and leisure (SE Asia, Europe/Turkey, and departing next week for Africa), it will have been a monstrous year.

I still have 9 segments to fly, but here is my expected EOY data:

New countries visited: Myanmar, Cambodia, South Korea, Hong Kong SAR, Turkey, Rwanda, Madagascar, UAE
New airlines flown: Cathay, Asiana, Dragonair, Bangkok Airways, Turkish, Air KBZ, Yangon Airways, Emirate & RwandAir (to come)
Countries visited: 51
Different airlines flown: 18 (UA, AA, DL, SW, Asiana, Thai, Dragonair, Bangkok Airways, Turkish, Emirates, Cathay, AF, BA, SAA, Air KBZ, Yangon Airways, RwandAir, Alaska)
Shortest flight: RGN-NYU (266 nm)
Longest flight: DXB-LAX (7244 nm)
BIS miles (including segments yet to fly): 141,759
Status earned: UA Gold Lifetime, DL Plat (credit card spend), Alaska MVP Gold 75K, SPG Plat100, Hyatt Diamond, Marriott Gold (via UA elite)
Nights in hotels/away from home: 81 (70 so far, with 11 more to come)
Craziest delay: Waiting for paralmypic team to board BKK-REP, causing 1.5 hr delay
Best hotel experience thus far: Amansara, Siem Reap, followed very closely by the Upper House, Hong Kong, and Park Hyatt Istanbul & St. Regis San Francisco
Worst hotel experience thus far: 5 am wake-up call we didn't order at Aureum Palace Bagan, as I finally had adjusted to jetlag
Best restaurant thus far: Amber, Hong Kong, & Guy Savoy, Paris
Most impressive sight: Plain of Ten Thousand Temples, Bagan, followed by the Blue Mosque, Istanbul

I'm almost ashamed to post this, but only 4 flights for me in 2014... Haven't had this few flights since 2008. On the other hand I've visited 3 new countries, but strangely no new airports. I visited China by crossing borders at Lo Wu train station from Hong Kong, and visited Macau by Ferry from Hong Kong. Already had been to HKG airport before, but never left the airport, this time I spend a few days in Hong Kong.

New Countries: Hong Kong, China, Macau
New Cities: Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Macau

New Airports: None
New Airlines: None
New Planes: None

Shortest Flight: HKG - ICN, 1286 Miles
Longest Flight: HKG - AMS, 5769 Miles on paper, but we took a detour after the Ukraine accident, so it was more than that

Airlines flown: 1(Cathay Pacific)
Total Airports: 3(AMS, HKG, ICN)
Total Flights: 4
Total Miles: 14110 miles

Best flight: AMS - HKG, almost no other pax, so I had 4 seats(and pillows and blankets) for myself in Y.

Worst flight: HKG - ICN, the girl sitting next to me was either afraid of flying, high on drugs, had stroke or something else... She was constantly shaking in her seat and making weird sounds. Stewardeses noticed it too, they tried to talk to her a couple of times during the flight, but it didn't stop. It was very uncomfortable.

Definitely not the airline's websites-there are a lot of tools that can be used to log flights, including flightmemory, openflights, flightdiary, ba97, and pitot. You can also keep a spreadsheet of your own flights as well

I look forward to this thread every year. Even if my contribution is never that impressive.
Operation Visit Every Country in Europe continued but I got kind of addicted to Austria.

New countries: Austria (liked it so much I went three times), Liechtenstein, Slovakia (properly this time, I did manage ten minutes on Bratislava station last year)
Re-visited countries: Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, Italy
New airlines: none (*clings to BA like a clinging thing*)
New planes : A319
'Flights' where I didn't actually get on a plane: 2 (LHR T2 opening trial)

Unfathomable mysteries: What happens to my mobile at Munich airport which makes it impossible to call my landline at home?
