I work for the government, underpaid, overworked and having to work an extra 6 years before I can retire.
My average working pattern last week involved 7 days, starting at 7.30am and the earliest I was home was 8pm, the latest 11pm.
I have a 9 month old who wakes at 1, 2, 3, sometimes 4 but usually by 5 am is up. This as you can imagine becomes rather tiring.
That said your average week makes me realise I actually have quite an easy life! Thank you
So I have several questions that wont involve your job title;
1. I assume not, but do you ever fly anything less than Business?
2. Do you honestly get bored/not bothered by the amount of alcohol/food offerings through your flying?
3. Do you think it has any effect on your health by the amount of travelling you undertake?
4. Do you need an apprentice bag carrier on your next long haul trip?
Genuinely, interesting read in a humble way that comes across, as opposed to some things I read on here how people are hard done by. Cant wait for the rest of the week.
Thanks

It sounds like your "whats in your rucksack" senimar went well. A poor 140tp though, thats less than 50 per day, or 17k per year.

A small update on the last flight of today is now online.
Once again I need to thank the glitterati of BAEC Flyertalk for their support, comment and amusing suggestions, so many thanks to T8191, jayjaygee, happeemonkee, Fly Baby jcm9000, dddc, PJSMITH0, Banana4321, KARFA, churchy, crystal_cad, DrGee, paulwuk, TRVLUPGD, TravellerFrequently, themapelligroup, jcm9000, Hoch, katie666, yokozuma, MickV, mc1973, LondonElite, Calchas, BertieWooster, G-BUSI, AeroWesty, TomK81, 1HourPhoto, dsf, exilencfc, bafan, BA5E, golfmad, dutch_122, flatlander, jonas123, layz, gustavmahler, paul4040, and secretplantofightinflation.
That really did surprise me - this relates to the Air Nostrum service between Granada and Madrid. It clearly shows how not maintaining your aircraft really has an impact on its feel to the customer, the seat cushions had long gone south, the carpet was in poor condition and so on. And yet it is not at all old.
And maybe this will surprise you: I haven't a clue! And I'm not actually interested in it, particularly. I look at My Flightpath and the Lufthansa equivalent from time to time, but I certainly wouldn't want to add them all up.
Thanks for this, a good idea! I honestly hadn't expected this thread to get anything like this big however!
Oh that's no big deal: where are the emergency exit, including an alternative if the main one is blocked, what does the hotel's alarm sound like, where is the nearest fire extinguisher, where do we all meet afterwards if we get separated during an emergency. Takes a minute to do.
Thanks, the hazards of cut and paste!
I've got a big family and "professional agricultural specialists" in my employ, so luckily all the animals are well cared for when I'm on the road. At this time of the year the sheep do look after themselves quite well, their diet is very straightforward.
I do fly economy sometimes, I call it the Hamburg rule, beyond that distance I'm reluctant to go economy, so I try not to make a habit of it! Nowadays I don't really notice the food and drink factors you mention, I often decline meals when flying. I think my health is good for my age, I'm still playing rugby, but I take nothing for granted. I do get a bit fed up with regularly getting sore throats but you can catch bugs in any area of life. And thank you for the offer, I notice it didn't cover shorthaul!

I've still not tried a proper CE service from LCY (LCY-RTM was operated by Eastern Airways on a small turboprop with limited galley space, but I did appreciate the attentive service). Would you consider a CE LCY service being worth booking if you didn't intend to eat on the flight?
I need to be more disciplined when travelling. I spend a lot of time in hotels and find it easy to just eat unhealthily (off the room service menu + of course the nice buffet breakfasts) and since I moved away from the 9-5 Mon-Fri style working I've put on a lot of weight as I can't get myself into a fitness routine. I will try better!

c-w-s: thanks a million for the thread, this is great stuff. I popped over to this forum a few days ago (I usually lurk on the CX or AF forums), found this thread and was instantly hooked! I enjoy the way you capture perfectly the daily grind of travelling, while at the same time showing all the enjoyable, positive aspects. I especially liked your packing and breakfast routine, which are identical to mine; the only difference is that I also have this manic obsession with checking every 10 minutes that my passport, wallet etc. are there, even though they are always kept in exactly the same pocket in my bag. Luckily I travel alone on business, since it would drive everyone else crazy....
I was actually a bit disappointed to see that you headed back to NCL yesterday, since I had got it into my head that you would be moving on to Doha - it was your remark in your Sunday post that your trip should logically have started in EDI that made me imagine that you would be taking the direct QR flight to or from there at some point in the week. Still, I await the rest of the week's activities with interest!
For what it's worth, I am sitting right now in the CX lounge at BJS, enjoying a nice (unpolluted) view of the runway. Thanks again for the reports and have a good day.

This thread has been moved from the BAEC forum to the Trip Report as it is more of a trip report than a discussion of BAEC and BA.
There is a redirect on the BA forum and if the OP wishes to post a link to this thread on the BAEC forum, he is more than welcome to do so as this interesting thread does deserve being noticed by BAEC regulars as well as other FT members at large.
In addition, members can subscribe to threads they are interested in, so that they can follow the updates etc more easily.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Oh i dunno, it could get interesting! I'm off to put the clash on the stereo.
Anyway im going to stop making comments until the end, save up a list of questions, half way there! And to think you do it all again next week, and the week after.....i suppose one last qs for now, does retirement ever cross your mind or does the thought of just having no travel one day leave you with the shivers?
