Wink Trip Report: (SJC-->)SEA-->LHR-->JFK(-->SFO)

Itinerary includes Alaska Airlines to SEA and American Airlines swanky "next gen" business class back to SFO but, otherwise was an award ticket in BA 1st. Will post it in 2-steps: BA48 SEA-->LHR; BA177 LHR-->JFK.

Was my first time in BA's international first class, including a visit to The Concorde Room at Heathrow. May have drunk my money's worth in Champagne between the lounges and the flights.

Third time lucky... write posts in a separate tool then copy-and-paste ;-)

Arrived early in Seattle but the friendly lounge folks opened the first lounge for me and I sat there enjoying a sojourn in my beloved PNW. Until last year, I'd lived in Seattle for most of the past decade.

Eden, Hannah and Ofelia kept me fed and in champagne.

Enjoyed the salmon slider. The pork wrap sounded nice but was less tasty and quite difficult for my fat fingers!

Ofelia offered the tapas plate to complement the champagne. When aren't olives and hummus a good suggestion? Need to Google the funky salted green figlike (figs?) berries.

The dude eating the bottomless bag of chips!

Seat 2a == beginner's luck and, I think, 4 others here with me.

The flight attendants were friendly and attentive. I was given a wash bag and offered pyjamas. The flight attendant suggested medium but I think I am really a large. I took the medium thinking my father would like to keep them. The only challenge is having to get changed in the bathroom which, while ok, isn't particularly suited to changing and so I simply removed my shirt and wore the pyjama top.

The flight was uneventful and I slept well. I watched a couple of movies including the most recent Captain America (enjoyable; recommended).

Dinner:

The amuse bouche was smoked salmon wrapped in cucumber (?). I honestly don't recall. It was good. I then had the lobster with mango salsa and Thai sweet chili (not "chilli" as in the menu) glaze to start followed by grilled fillet of Omaha beef with asparagus, chaterelle salad, roasted turned potatoes (unsure what they were before they turned!), cauliflower and romesco sauce.

The cheeses comprised Valdeon Azul, Comte and Camembert.... yum.
