Delta BE DTW-ICN

Here's a link to my trip report on my recent flight from DTW-ICN on Delta's Business Elite product on the 777.

I'm on the return ICN-DTW in a few days and will update my article.

Yikes you did the exact correct thing - did the earliest flight out (600a) but luckily you made the next flight. A73 to A30 is quite the hike.

Nice report, I haven't flown in BE on the 777, but I think I prefer the setup on the 764. The screen is certainly bigger on the 764.

You touched on one of my biggest complaints for the BE service. I absolutely love the 777/747 herringbone configuration, as I am too tall to comfortably fit in the 763/764 layflat configuration. I disagree with your assessment of screen size, as it's the largest in the BE fleet and on par for US Airlines.

The food is my biggest complaint. The way all of their flights seem to work is you are served dinner and breakfast regardless of the time of departure.

The only flights this works for are the exUSA-EU flights, where you are served dinner and served breakfast at the appropriate times. This does not work on the way back where you leave ex-EU heading back to the US, you leave at breakfast time and are served dinner.

I have sent in numerous emails asking why this is and haven't gotten one single 'makes sense' response yet.

Great report and yes 7A is my favourite seat of them all!!

DL's LHR-US flights offer a lunch-type meal after departure and a snack (sandwich or salad) before landing.

I partially think the dinner is served first since it's the most complex meal and probably needs to be served closer to departure time. This may sound odd, but think what another 10 hours would do to a steak or fish main course. Who knows, this may be a shot in the dark.

The screen size wasn't terrible, it just wasn't huge. If I recall the new BE seats in the 747 have larger screens. Overall there is a ton of entertainment options regardless of screen size.

While I would tend to agree with you, multiple other carriers (ie CX/TG/QF/EK) all seem to maintain the integrity of the food throughout the flight, and their menu is much, much larger than DL's. On top of that, they have the ability to serve it at any time that you wish, other than all at once.

Guess I've been spoiled to the point that I just don't ever have high expectations for any US airline's food delivery and prep.

I totally understand your thoughts on food. My one big complaint about Delta is they often run out of popular food options. International and domestic F. I just got off my ICN-DTW return and they were out if two of the breakfast options. How does this happen with BE is only half full?

A side note, I've posted a review of the KAL lounge in ICN.
