G219 “Xinjiang–Tibet Highway”, from Kargilik in Xinjiang to Lhatse in Tibet, is one of the highest major road in the world. The highway is 2143 kilometers long, completed in 1957. It is now under serious renovation. Pavement work has been completed but in a short section between Xinjiang–Tibet border to Ritog. The project is set to complete next summer.
