I'm guessing since the OP's name is IloveCXeconomy he's had better experiences on CX and this one, probably due to all the factors everyone else has mentioned made it feel 'less good'.
As for getting snacks at the gate for what is a really Relatively minor delay for long haul that's amazing - I've never seen snacks offered at the gate before (although I'm usually in a lounge so maybe it's more common than I see). Hats off to Cathay.
The temperature on Asian airlines always seems to be a little warmer - I always wear lighter clothing when flying into Asia as its always warm on board (but its warm off airport too so helps for both really).
The secondary security screening is a pain, you can thank LAGS regulations and the US government for that - nothing to do with the airline.
Hopefully we get to see some more trip reports (with some links to photos too - I ink we are all love some of visuals when reading these) that match your username better.
