BNE to KWI via SIN & DXB

Well this is my first ever trip report so please be gentle

My Husband and I headed off to Kuwait to visit family and friends. We flew Emirates for the first time and I was very impressed by the beautiful planes ^ but it was very hit and miss with the FA's

We were scheduled to depart BNE at 2.30am so I made sure we arrived early for our flight. Check in was fast enough and I don't know why I was worried about the weight of my carry on as they didn't even weigh it. Heading downstairs to the departures we had a look around in the duty free and I bought some perfumes and then we started our long walk to gate 75.

We had approximately 30 mins before we had to board again for the next leg of our trip SIN-DXB. We were scheduled to depart at 9.35am. Shortly into the flight we were given snacks followed by lunch.

For lunch I chose the sweet and sour chicken thigh with baby pak choy & white rice, served with mango cheesecake on an almond cake base, cheese & biscuits, tea & coffee and a small chocolate. ***** stars for this one, very tasty.

Dubai airport is great for duty free shopping and I highly recommend it for gifts as well as these I got myself some diecast models from the Emirates store there. Compared to online these models are cheaper so if you are passing through make sure to grab some there The aiport is very busy but there is always someone around to help for assistance should you need it but overall very well signed.

This flight was well and truly full apart from 3 seats in economy. It was mainly full of Indians who were probably heading to Kuwait as most of them work and live there. This would have to of been the worst flight out of all of them for this trip. The meal was served 40 mins before landing which didn't really give people much time to eat so most people were handing back almost full trays of food which is a complete waste. The entertainment system was also the old one so didn't have much to keep me entertained, luckily it was only a 1 hour 20 min flight.

We spent almost 3 weeks in Kuwait and really did nothing but eat and hang out at cafes and movies as well as the huge shopping malls most of which are open almost all night every night until around 12am.
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...I/DSC05779.jpg
Chandeliers and lighting dominate the malls giving it that expensive look and feel
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...I/DSC05781.jpg

Also huge glass sculptures decorate the 360 Mall

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...I/DSC05778.jpg

Everybody there wants to feed you even though you may have just eaten and it is not unusual to be offered fruit, beautifully displayed biscuits and tea when visiting someones house. The food places consist mainly of American food chains such as Hardees, Ruby Tuesdays, Fridays, KFC, Burger King, Maccas and many more and the food portions are HUGE but very reasonably priced!

Scattered around Kuwait you will find various water stations usually in the shape of the Kuwait water towers, arab coffee pots and other shaped bottles.

Water is stored in these huge towers as well as in the Kuwait towers which also has a restaurant and rotating viewing platform.

Driving in Kuwait is insane and you will see expensive cars all over the place including Ferrari, Rolls Royce and even Maserati. The traffic never seems to stop and will be like peak hour well into the night with smashed up cars being seen frequently and people beeping horns at you even if you have nowhere to go on the road.

We had another early flight scheduled to depart at 3.50am. We got to the airport and check in at the Emirates counter was empty with most heading towards Etihad check in. The flight was approximately half full and we got to sleep across 4 seats that weren't being used which was great! We boarded on time and started our long flight home.

As Kuwait disappeared behind us it was time for Breakfast. This time I chose the ommelete with bacon, hash brown and spinach with a tomato sauce. As well as juice, fruit, croissant, tea or coffee. This was a very nice and tasty meal.

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...I/PB090054.jpg

I had never had the chance to sit towards the front of the plane before so jumped at the chance to book seat 9K just in front of the engine..... mainly so I could get some pics

We landed at Dubai on time so it was off for some more shopping as we had 4 hours to kill. We found some power points to recharge our phones and camera and had a drink while watching people from all nations walk by. The Dubai Airport is so open and bright and with such huge windows allows you to plane spot while you wait

We arrived approximately 25 mins early and made it through customs and Immigration fairly fast even though a Korean flight had also just arrived. We headed to the carousel, grabbed our luggage and got a taxi home!

Well that is it for me.......... some final last words........Emirates seem to be a great airline although I do think they need to improve on the service and get some friendly FAs. The food is very good and fresh and you will never go hungry on their flights. The planes are just beautiful, they are very comfortable and the lighting features just add the perfect atmosphere and even with the huge engines the cabin is fairly quiet.

That is all from me and I hope you enjoyed my first trip report.

I would like to say a big Thank you to everyone on this forum for their advice, it was very helpful in making all of the flights great!^

Thanks for the TR, am heading to Hamburg from Melbourne on EK 407 and 059 in Y next april and its nice to know i might end up with a spare cm or so of legroom (i am 193cm and have a bit of girth to boot)..
Didnt happen to notice whether row 18 on the 3 class 300er had a missing window or not??
At this stage have booked:
27 ABC on EK 407
19 ABC on 59
19 HJK on 62

Just hoping the 406/407 route is serviced by A380 by then

Sorry no I didn't notice, maybe try down the back of the plane where the seats go into 2-2 you do have quite a lot of extra room to stretch your legs. But I hope you have a safe trip and Goodluck getting the A380.
