Good trip report, I did this trip in business in September, many of the same issues. Sad that my home airport's Flagship Lounge is so ...... meh.

Flagship lounge at ORD is a joke. I think AA has good lounges, but that one is awful for what it is supposed to be. I far prefer the "regular" Admirals Club lounge over by the low-numbered K gates (around K7?). The Admirals Clubs at DFW (all of them, esp D gates) are far better than the Flagship lounge at ORD.
Yes the DFW clubs are nice - my favorite is the newest in Terminal D. The Flagship Lounge at JFK is great and the one at LAX is decent. ORD's is awful
