Weekend in Seattle
Just got back form a 2 day trip to Seattle. I never have been there, got a good last minunte fare. Tirp Itinerary would be CO CLE-IAH-SEA and SEA-CLE. I got upgraded to F to IAH, great meal service. Landing in IAH, aircraft did a missed approach as there was a coyote on the runway.
Saturday morning I rented a car and drove to Everett to do the Boeing tour, something I have wanted to do for years and it was fantastic. Driving up on I 5 you pass Boing Field and the Renton plant where the 737 is built. In the Everette facility,
We went to the assembly lines for both the 747 and 767 in one building and the 777 and 787 in another building. Your are taken above the lines and it was spectaculor. The tour guide was very knowlable and did a very good job. There were several 787's parked out side of the bulding for various airlines.
After the tour I drove back on I 5 to downtown Seattle and spend the afternoon there. Downtown is alot like San Francisco, alot of steep hills and parking was difficult to find. Seattle had alot of nice stores in town and alot of nice restaurants. It was very crowed on Saturday.
As evening approcahed I headed to the see the Indians play the Mariners at Safeco field. Nice ballpark, it has a retractable roof but it was left open fot the game. The Indians won the game but both teams are in last place in thier respective divisions.
Departing SEA-TAC this morning I have some extra time to check out the airport. One nice thing is once you clear security you have access to the entire airport. Lots of places to eat in the Seattle airport. The Continental PC is very small, maybe the smallest of all the clubs so I had some time to go over to the United gate area in N and found the Red Carpet club. Nice club, similar to the clubs in DEN I visted a few weeks ago.
Flight nacl to CLE was a completely full 737-900. Alot of passenegrs got off a cruise. Flight left slightly late as a passenger reported some missing screws on the wing. Pilot said it was not a safetly issue but repair took about 15 minuntes. I sat in the exit row where seats recline, lots of room.
I really enjoyed my brief time in Seattle, would like to go back and spend more time, more more to see.
