Thanks for the excellent report. And thanks especially for not filling it up with silly over-the-top adjectives like so many others!
Woodstock is a great touch. SQ really need to improve their meals. I did the same routing back in January this year and they seem to be using the same ingredients in their meals for the past 8 years or so! Time for a menu update. But they can keep the caviar there! |

The LAX-SIN non-stop probably has A LOT of regulars so that flight hopefully has a rotating menu.... |

Hope no one's irritated that I revived an old thread, but I was curious how were the flight attendants' Singapore sight seeing recommendations.

The recommendations were really spot on and helpful for the "non-touristy" stuff. What I mean is that I've noticed that people never do the really touristy stuff in the city they actually live in. Plenty of Parisians NEVER go to the Eiffel tower, plenty of New Yorkers have NEVER been to the Statue of Liberty... So in a similar way they FA's were a little unsure of where exactly the Merlion was but that was o.k. as I had plenty of maps with me and they were able to find it on the map after looking for a minute.... However the non-touristy advice was really great. I went and saw Kumar perform at the Hard Rock and wouldn't have even have heard of Kumar if it weren't for the SQ FA recommending him/her! It was really cool to see a Singaporean performer who was performing FOR Singaporeans and not for tourists. The advice they gave me about buying fruit was also very useful as was the advice on which malls would be the coolest to visit. Basically for the purely touristy stuff, like when is the Singapore Flyer open...the guide books are the best. But for REAL insight into Singapore, nothing is better than talking to a Singaporean and especially the FAs since they have traveled and know what other places are like in comparison. |
